I am fairly new to art and craft shows -have only been doing them about 2 - 3 years. Last fall they have become my main scource of income since losing my job the last day of August 2008. Before this I did them because they were fun and did not do a lot. This is the first time in 40+ years that I have been out of work for more than 6 weeks and that only happened twice before in my life. I am from southeast Michigan about 35 miles northeast of Detroit-need I say more.I am looking for shows in the southeast Michigan area-art and/or craft shows. Because of my financial situation-looking for some more inexpensive shows to do. I feel I need to move farther out of town because it seems everyone has seen me before-I need some new customers. We make bracelets and pendents out of vintage silverplate and sterling silver flatware. Most of the silverware is vintage 1930's-1940's although we did have one pattern from 1910. My husband makes them and I do the final cleaning and buffing, packaging and working the shows myself unless they are larger ones. Its been a tremendous opportunity to meet people and just listen and learn from them. I find out more and more things with each show. I truly wish I had done this earlier. Any hints or leads on shows would be much appreciated. Thanks you for all your help in advance and hope to see some of you soon!Kathy & Walter Gleissner

The White Plains Public Library Museum Gallery in White Plains, NY is hosting a one-man exhibition of paintings, sculpture and prints by artist, teacher and Westchester Philharmonic Orchestra violinist David Tobey at the gallery, 100 Martine Avenue from March 30 through June 15th, 2011.

At the opening reception for the show on Wednesday evening, March 30th from 6 to 8 p.m. Tobey will be performing on violin with keyboard artist Kirk Ehrenreich. The public is cordially invited to view Tobey's art at the reception party and to enjoy the live music, refreshments and interesting conversation with artists, musicians, educators and others at the event. Admission is free.        The Friends of the White Plains Library and The White Plains Library Foundation will each receive 20% of proceeds from all artwork sales for the run of the show through June 15th, which will come to a total of 40% donated by the artist.

The addition of live entertainment at the opening, and the fact that a significant portion of proceeds from any sale of art at the show will benefit the not-for-profit venue has resulted in a considerable amount of attention to it by the media, something that other artists might consider when planning either their own solo shows or their participation in art fairs and festivals.

More information on the show can be found on Tobey's web site at http://www.davidtobey.com and on the press release for the event at http://www.prweb.com/releases/2100/01/prweb5032084.

Being Clearly Blasted ;)

Hello,I went to see Julie and Julia over the weekend, and for those who do not know, it is basically a story of a girl who blogs every day while cooking thru Julia Child's cookbook. Seeing as how I have a birthday soon, I thought I would copy that concept and work on this blog and/or my art everyday for a year. A true and firm commitment to something I am passionate about....after all they say, it is the fruit of life, to do something you are truly passionate about. I am a working professional in the real estate industry, but my true love is etched glass. So here I begin my journey. Some days this will be long, some days it won't be. Work keeps me consumed, but hopefully within the next year, I can turn that around to glass consuming me instead. Ahh, even the thought of that makes me happy. The name "Clearly Blasted" derives from the fact I love to go etch designs on clear glass after a hard day's work. Nothing like taking your stress out that way!!!My goal is to do art shows again this fall, and also, get work in a gallery or little shops on Marietta Square...I have my eye on a shop there already....

Fine Art photography for decoration

PICTURES-OF-MUSTANG-HORSES-EJAZ-KHAN-EARTH.jpg?lossy=0&strip=1&webp=1

What is fine art photography Exactly?

When it comes to photography, some would argue that there is no need to define what really is and what may not be fine art, which leaves the question open to interpretation. However, while fine art photographers may take any subject, their aim is very different in contrast to how commercial photographers depict subjects aimed at showing or selling a product or service, for example. This says a lot about the intentions of both types of photography and we can see that there are differences between the two.

How to decorate your home with Fine Art?

When it comes to photographic trends, we will rely on images with powerful 'black & white' and impactful colour that really draws one into the subject matter in order to depict our deepest desires and duality of life. The growth of surrealism and philosophical subjects fuels the popularity of fine art photography and photo manipulations that tell compelling visual stories. Creative uses of makeup make a huge impact because now artists can photograph their favourite sketches onto an already finished portrait.

Let's explore the premium quality wildlife luxury wall art for decoration.
