Call for Artists, Making Money at Juried Art Fairs, Craft Shows and Festivals
Welcome to Art Fair Insiders.
Together we're building a friendly, worldwide community of people involved in the business of art fairs: artists, art fair organizers, and art fair patrons.
In order to encourage community interaction the following guidelines outline how everyone is expected to behave. Abiding by these guidelines will help our community and our individual careers flourish.
Additionally, failure to follow the guidelines below will result in being banned from the network.
1. Be Nice Presume the best, not the worst when others disagree with you. No one is here at Art Fair Insiders by accident - they are just as interested as you are in sharing information. Like email, text-based forum messages lose a lot of the nuance that face-to-face communication provides. So members should be sure to give the "benefit of the doubt" to other's intentions when interacting. No personal attacks and no inappropriate personal or adult topics or behavior, please.
2. Be Generous Share your expertise and others will share with you, too. The collective wisdom in this group is huge. Share your knowledge and you'll soon benefit from returned favors, too. (You'll also see that the most popular member contributors to the community are recognized publicly!)
3. Be Ethical Art Fair Insiders was started to put artists in touch with each other in order to further their professional growth and help them succeed in the art fair business. Anyone taking advantage of the free discourse on the site inappropriately (in our sole judgment) will be banned from the community.
4. Be thoughtful of others in voicing your political and religious beliefs. In general those discussions do not belong on this site.
5. First and last names are required. All need to be responsible for their comments on the site. Anonymous posting is not allowed.
6. No Sales Pitches Please consider this a "Pitch Free Zone" where everyone can have fun together. So please no sales pitches, affiliate links, or blatant self-promotion. If you have a product, service, or event that you would like to promote to the community, please contact us about advertising on the site and in our newsletters.
That's it. The presumption is that everyone here is an adult and will behave like one. (Which also means that this site and all related services are solely for people 18 years and older, please.)
Thanks for joining us.

Good Saturday afternoon! I have a question for those of you who are experienced with the Flourish mesh walls. I have a show coming up in two weeks and have purchased the black mesh walls. It appears that you can use those both with and without the canopy side walls. I’m curious as to when you would use the mesh walls alone versus the two sets of walls together? Any feedback from those of you out there who have use these will be appreciated!
Hey folks. I'm Steve, and I'm a newbie to art shows. I have tried two and on the second (medium-sized) one I sold a total of 1 small item. Was very disappointed, so I need to learn, find out more about "presentation" and see what you folks can give some insights on. I live in southwest Iowa. I have two art shows coming up in June (one small, one very large). So, help!
Hi I am William and I look forward to meeting people on this site and through shows. Live in Atlanta, Ga. Say hi if you know me or just want to. Thanks Connie for adding me to the site.
Thanks Connie
I have read this site off an on for quite a while. I find myself the Momager of my Daughter's Emerging Art Career and while she works on the hard stuff I kind of research and discuss options with her. So far so good. I am interested in being a more permanent member to help her better.
Thanks Connie for the welcome . . . .many times people are just dropped into the mix to sink or swim. Hopefully I'm a swimmer!
Thanks for adding me to the site. I look forward to years of great friendships and lots of information! Being new to the Art Fair world, I am interested in all the guidance I can get. Thanks Again!!!
Thanks for the welcome, Connie, and AFI! I look forward to interacting with you in the online and (hopefully) on the ground communities!
Hello and thanks for adding me to the site! I am new to Fine Art Shows, but I am an experienced traveler and have worked many festivals for other artists. Its time to start preparing to step out into the Fine Art circuit and I am opening myself up to advice from others with experience making a living as an artist. I hope to be able to share any of my previous experiences with everyone and any other experience I gain along the way!
Roger that our esteemed admin. I promise to abide by the site's code of conduct. I am an Atlanta based visual artist. My creations are mainly in mixed media, collage, acrylic, ink , pencil ... I graduated fro AIU (Atlanta/Buckhead) with BFA in Visual communications in 2002. Looking so forward to seeing some of y'all at the 2014 art fairs around the country. My works can be seen at https://www.facebook.com/moseja Thank you.
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this group. I have been doing various shows for over 8 years now. Some juried and some not. As I refine my work and am trying to get into the higher end shows but I will continue to do some of my local not juried shows as I have a proven following in them. I plan to semi-retire the end of this year and focus much more on shows and doing some traveling so am excited to hear about shows out of my region. If anyone is interested in show, both juried and not, in the Louisville, Ky area, I will be glad to help out.
Thanks Connie! I've had three shows to date, the next one coming up is The Suncoast Arts Fest at Wire Grass. I'm having trouble selling, my medium is colored pencil and watercolor, people are telling me they look like photographs. I strive for realism but certainly don't want it to impair the salability of my work, any suggestions? You can view my pieces by Googling RHChipman Art.
Thank you
Thank you Connie, for welcoming me to your group. It looks like a very organized and have nice people around. Looking forward to be here a lot.
Hi Connie, Thanks for accepting me into your group. I am new to the art show business. I have applied to 5 shows here on the Treasure Coast of Florida and was shocked to have been accepted into all. The first show is in two weeks. So i am earger to get thru the first one to see how things go. I look forward to learning from everyone on the forum and hope to get to meet as many members in person as possible.
Thanks
Dennis Heald
