Very Easy for people who have a rough time while on the road..Google 411 Just leave it up to Google to come up with something like this!!! Here's a number worth putting in your cell phone, or your home phone speed dial: 1-800-goog411. This is an awesome service from Google, and it's free -- great when you are on the road. Don't waste your money on information calls and don't waste your time manually dialing the number. I am driving along in my car and I need to call tonight’s hotel and I don't know the number. I hit the speed dial for information that I have programmed. The voice at the other end says, "City & State." I say, " Miami, FL." He says, "Business Name or Type of Service." I say, Hampton Inn." He says, "Connecting" and Hampton Inn answers the phone. How great is that? This is nationwide and it is absolutely free! Click on the link below and watch the short clip for a quick demonstration. http://www.google.com/goog411/ Many thanks to my good friend, Barb Burkhardt, for this cool tip.

Obama Art Report - Part 3

Here are some more photos and chat about the Manifest Hope art exhibit in D.C. last month, interesting images of the artists setting up for the event. The art show was only open for three days and I got there in the closing hour - greeted by very long lines. Luckily we got in, but had to hurry through as they were having a BIG party at 6 pm. http://www.obamaartreport.com/2009/02/manifest-hope-behind-scenes-day-three.html

Welcome to Cali Hobgood-Lemme from Chicagoland who joined ArtFairInsiders.com today and became member #100 of this new social marketing network for artists. A welcome also to Ann Light, Jay McDougall, LizAnne Jensen and Michele LeVett who are #'s 101, 102, 103 7 104!! My many thanks, really, to all 104 of you who are helping to build this site into a strategic resource for art fair artists as we enter into the Brave New World of really scary economic times. Alarming as it is, I know you are all resourceful people who will find a way to make this work for yourselves. This website can be one of the tools to make your way into 2009 and beyond. Please use it to ask questions of one another, share your expertise, start discussions, and dispense wisdom. Invite your friends to participate, that is the quickest way to stay in touch with trends and the news in the business. When I saw Cali's name pop up on the list today I was amazed to see that she has been in the business for 16 years. I remember seeing her when she was beginning. Then I saw her exhibit at the Ann Arbor Street Fair this summer and her expertise was readily apparent. Can we make it to 200 by 12/31/08? Please help. This site will only be as good as you can help make it. I am opening a new discussion tonight and look forward to your participation in the discussion section of the site. It is a question I am often asked and is a good one for the old-timers to help the newcomers with: I’m an artist in tarpon springs, FL and I’m just starting to market my work. I have original pieces but also prints (in various sizes) and greeting cards. I’ve gone to a lot of local gift shops and ask them how they acquire their merchandise while all of them have said vendors. Are there any ideas/resources on how I can sell my work? I’d like to eventually do art shows but need some income on the smaller merch first. Katie S.

The 63rd Annual Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival is one of the nation's oldest, largest, and most prestigious juried fine art festivals. The Festival debuted in March 1960 as a community project and is still produced today by an all-volunteer board that puts an emphasis on meeting the needs of the artists.

Set in a beautiful, historic downtown setting, the festival draws approximately 300,000 art-loving visitors. Over 1000 fine artists from around the world apply yearly to this highly competitive and very popular show. An independent panel of three judges will select the 210 fine artists and three emerging artists invited to exhibit their works.

One of Central Florida's largest annual outdoor events, the Festival also features a wide variety of entertainment on the stage in Central Park, food and beverage to please the whole family, a popular juried exhibit of student art from central Florida schools, and interactive art activities for the kids.

This fair attracts both traditional art fair lovers and those that did not realize that they love fine art.  We focus on work that is a bit less traditional, art that invites conversation.  Don't be mistaken though, it is a juried fine art fair.  Work must be of the highest quality and made by the artist.  Check the website to see last year's art to see how your work fits in.

Fashionable Ferndale's downtown is a thriving business community with distinctive boutiques and bistros. The lively atmosphere attracts young upwardly mobile professionals. This show is designed to provide a showcase for artists that have work that appeals to that group. As Detroit continues its comeback Ferndale becomes an even more desirable area.

A healthy advertising budget along with extensive marketing and news coverage brings out the art lovers.
