Yorkfest

Hi. Does anyone have a minute to tell us about Yorkfest? My husband does contemporary, funky, primitive, whimsical, stained glass-and-brass mixed media sculptures - 1-foot high to 7-feet high or long. We welcome recommendations about festivals open to funky stuff as well. We're in the Chattanooga, TN area, and would like to travel out of the South, especially DC area, Ohio, Mid-Atlantic generally. All the best to y'all - enjoying the blogs, they're so helpful! Kathy and Charlie

  • Dan, thank you so much! We appreciate your great comments. All the best,

  • Yorkfest is a small show. I did it a few years ago. I won an award, but not much sales. The crowds were ok, just not purchasing very much. It was early on in the recession, nobody was selling much. Not in York anyway. The artist breakfast was very nice and the show was well organized. It had a prior day set-up. This is an inexpensive show, so it might be worth trying if you are in the area and need a filler show.

  • Not a pro, but trying to learn! Nope, Charlie got in the first year. Then 4 Bridges underwent a change of vision. He hasn't been able to get in since. Would like to, of course. Working on it!

  • Wow! I just noticed you even put in "tags" for your post. You must be a pro, Kathy!

Thanks for this additional info, hopefully someone can help you out on this.

Did you participate in the 4 Bridges show in Chattanooga this year?

  • It's in York, PA, end of August, put on by Yorkarts, I guess a city-affiliated or city-run nonprofit (just a guess - haven't finished reading up on it). http://www.yorkcity.org/yorkfest

  • I've never heard of this show, Kathy. Where is it held? Who puts it on? When is it?
