What's the strangest thing that you have seen at an art show?

While working in my booth this past weekend at Southlake, a customer asked what the strangest thing was that I had ever seen at an art show.  My husband and I thought for a moment and concurred that it was something that occurred at a show in Austin, Texas, a couple of years ago.

I had a crowded booth and was completing a sale with a customer.  I glanced up while packaging up the purchase only to be shocked by a woman who had a certain upper body part completely exposed.  A million thoughts went through my mind at that moment.  How in the world could I alert her to her public display of a private body part without 15 other people suddenly becoming aware of the issue?  Well, I did nothing and prayed she would figure it out, or, at least move out of my booth.......

How about you all? I am sure that there is a story to top this one.....(In fact, I heard a rumor about a Park City flasher).....

I actually saw two strange things at this show, (Southlake).  One, was a lady who was dressed from head to toe in bright purple, teal, pink and orange, while bright, not the strange part.  She was pushing her little dog in a stroller, dog appeared to be a maltese or something like that, anyway, she had dyed the dog pink, to match her clothing!  Next was a guy with a black pirate eyepatch pushing a cat in a screened in stroller. That's a first for me!

Ha! The strangest thing I ever saw was a bevy of kilted men with bagpipes and Irish wolfhounds. It was the Mosaics art show in St. Charles Missouri and the Irish heritage festival was happening at the same time a few blocks away by the riverfront. The Irish contingent decided to have an impromptu parade down the middle of our art fair.  Lots of fun!

Kimberly, it was great to meet you face-to-face.  I missed the bright dog lady.  How funny.  However, I have seen a few of those at other shows.  I did see one man (at Southlake) using a baby pouch (the kind people wear like a backpack in the front) with his dog in it.

Sounds like that could have been in Austin instead of Chicago!  LOL

While doing MSU , in East Lansing, MI,,,,maybe 10 years ago ?

I had the same experience almost , with the over exposed woman....but this one, was wearing her jeans cut so low, that her crotch(frontal view) was actually showing! If you were standing in front of her, she was exposed to the world, and I have no idea why she didn't notice, or her husband didn't,,,,or maybe they thought it was fine to be X-rated ? don't know. it's a mystery.

It was great to meet you too, Cindy. I also saw a lady with a dachsund in a front baby carrier at this show, as a matter of fact, while I have not done a lot of shows, I have never seen so many dogs at a show!

I hope you did well.  I did okay, but boy, the photographer next to me had them flying off the panels, he must have made a killing.  The lady next to me made a killing too, selling scripture silver bells. It's a wonder she was  able to have so much inventory, especially since her husband was at Ifest selling too...

I wonder if those bell people are really making the bells or having them made elsewhere.....hmmmm.

I did great.  It was my highest grossing show ever (2 years into this show thing).  Two other jeweler friends did nearly 5 figures!

Ok I have several, years ago at a renaissance fair talked to a guy that had his teeth surgical altered to look like fangs, 2 at st stephens, drunk guy poked me in my under arm while I was rolling down my sides for the night. Then the next day a big body builder was lecturing me on the merits of beating your wife and kids. Sometimes the whackos just seem to find me.

Oh, I did the Texas Ren Faire three years ago.  I forgot about "those" people.....LOL

That would be hilarious!  Actually,  someone at Southlake was suggesting a reality TV show following artists around from show to show....
