After reviewing all the suggestions I received - here are the changes I made (and the one I didn't). I decided to keep my Salvage Artist identity. I have developed a following with that identity and didn't really feel I could change the name. I did change my artist statement (see the new one at www.salavgeartist.com ) and how I described myself and my art. With the help of my wonderful husband, we revamped my booth. I had my first opportunity to try out the changes this weekend at the New Hope Arts & Craft Show. My sales were not a lot better, but the reponse was very different. People thought my artwork was decidedly more upscale. They thought my prices, which I had raised back up to where I thought they should be, were very reasonable. I even had a couple of artists stop by to tell me they thougth my booth was beautiful! I have attached a picture of the new booth to this blog, it is hard to see, but the shears are a very pretty shade of green. I usually have more pieces in my booth, but edited some out to do a new booth shot. thanks for all the suggestions!

Diane, your booth update looks good, and lots of great suggestions here. I, too, am having to search for the right shows even though I get lots of great feedback from the shows I've done. For your type of work I would seek great outdoor shows - I could totally see your work at Art and the Vineyard here in Oregon. Some metal artists I've seen show their work without a booth, displaying their pieces very effectively in open air settings. When you do need to show in a booth, I agree that large photos of the work set up outside would be helpful. (And I love the process photos idea!) As you don't have a lot of space to show a lot of work, having a photo album of more work would be good and could encourage commissioned work. Your work is beautiful, and there are high end shows where they would sell. Best of luck to you!
Wow, Diane! I love the changes that you made. The other suggestions should make a stellar booth. You go, girl!!
Good job, Diane. I love the light green color of the sheers. Your booth looks nice.
Nice job, Diane. Sam's ideas are amazing for your booth, some of them good for your jury shot as well as for making the booth even more inviting. If this is your booth shot I'd also crop the support bars out of the top of the image and brighten it up a little.
Last night I caught a new program on HGTV, Flea Market Flip - very fun, and people doing sort of what you are doing. Have you seen it? They were repurposing, salvaging, pieces from a flea market and then taking them to sell at a marketplace in Brooklyn.
I think your work is wonderful & the booth is clean & sleek. You go girl!!!!
I was also exhibiting at New Hope and I saw your booth - Thought it looked great!! Excellent presentation!
Oh yes, I love the idea of process pictures- you can do some banner pieces real inexpensively- try vistaprint or I've heard Costco does them as well. I see you have one plant in there- I would add some more to give it more of a garden - outdoor effect as well- a great photo of a bench under a great tree is perfect but then bring the idea to the booth a little too with some foilage, not tons but a little more. I missed New Hope this year, would have loved to have seen your pieces- love them!
I like Sam's idea of the "action" shots.
