Wedding and The Art Shows

Ok its always wonderful how life all seems to happen at once. I am getting married in a week from Saturday on Sept. 22. This is an amazing, great time in my life and I love how art fits into it. I sold 2 paintings on line one yesterday and one today which makes me extremely happy. My depressed, drunk loose abstract vagina and blue mermaid vagina both now will have new homes. I will miss them. Today I had to get hair, makeup and a final fitting done and I'm going tonight for the final tasting.

Tomorrow I have to drop off art work at BWAC for the gallery show that begins on Sept. 22 and my work to BWS to be critiqued and see if I can be "good enough" for acceptance. Its all so nerve wracking, wedding, painting, juries deciding if they like your work. I'm thankful I have a spa day scheduled next week.

What I love though is that art and life mix together so perfectly. Imagine all the stress from the wedding and all of the stress of the shows combined together. My only regret is I can not be there for the opening day of the BWAC show. One of my most prized paintings "Endless Summer" is going to be a part of the Coming to Brooklyn show and this painting is 6 feet across and 4 feet high and just embodies everything I love about the summer since its an abstract beach scene with hand painted sea shells and a sunset in the piece. It reminds people of the beauty in this urban jungle and I think will be one of a kind. Between that and being critiqued for BWS I'm pretty stressed. Watercolors is a new frontier for me and BWS is a watercolor society in brooklyn that prides itself on the mastery of this medium. I hope that they like my work and I hope all goes well.

Art and life are truly partnered in this week and I can only hope for the best.

  • Excellent!!!

Hope your wedding dawns beautifully, and the exhibit is a complete success! and do keep us posted!!

  • Karole,

I will be able to goto the rest of the show so missing the opening is just a minor disappointment though I really do love the gallery and artists that exhibit there. I dropped off my work this weekend and then today one of the paintings I dropped off sold so I have to go back on Weds. and do a painting swap and put a new painting out so I can ship out the one that sold. I can see how your friend doesn't want to come back from her honeymoon it sounds wonderful and Italy is intoxicating. I will keep you posted on how everything else goes as of right now its going very well.

  • Good for you, on the Gallery dude!  Missing the opening day for the show is a minor disappointment- missing the Opening day of your marriage would be a disaster! Will you be able to attend the rest of the show? Glad your placement is advantageous, and hope it all works! You must be in constant high at this point! And yes, Life IS amazing. Good luck for the show, gallery, and enjoy your Wedding Day!! I have friends that married earlier this month- they are honeymooning right now- Paris, cruise to Greek Isles, finishing in Italy- she posted that she may never come home!!

  • Thank you Larry, Jacki and Karole. I will relax and breathe. I wish I could goto the opening day of the show for BWAC but the wedding is the same day. My gorgeous Endless Summer Painting ended up being next to some amazing Metal Work. I have another 4 paintings as well and I love the way my work looks. I'm very excited. Today I"m dropping off the rest of my work to be judged by the Brooklyn Watercolor Society. Their meeting is Oct. 18th so I think I'll get an answer by then. Its all very exciting. I can't wait for the next art fair too. I have so many ideas and products to get out there and last night I met this guy who may put my work in a gallery show that would be my first solo show. Life is amazing.
