(artists Bonnie Blandford & Michael Kifer)
130 Artists
Deadline: October 1
Application fee: $20
Booth fee: $145 and up for larger booths

This show gives art show artists the ability to sell their secondsoverstock, duds and things you're just tired of looking at for discounted prices to anenthusiastic crowd of buyers. Art that you've traded for over the years and supplies are also welcome. But no/buy sell is allowed.

Last year when we opened the doors we had hundreds of people in line waiting. 4500 people came to the show in the 6.5 hours we are open. Some years the weather isn't great since it is Michigan in winter but we still get huge crowds of buyers. And it's just fun! We bring in pizza during Friday night set-up and there's always some Friday night exhibitor shopping going on as well.

Marketing:

We advertise in print media, on 4 television stations, sometimes a billboard, yard signs, banners and we're really big on using social media. We do contests to give away free tickets and hand out postcards for the show starting immediately after last years show. Plus we have a huge mailing list for both snail mail and e-mail that we send to. The bulk of our money goes into advertising.

We also have an art auction for charity, emerging artist section (at only $100 per booth once approved by the jury) live demonstrations, a VIP area and much more!

We learned our lesson in the first year and have significantly fine tuned the event.  The Show is almost twice the size as last year.  We have removed the music stage and instead will have musicians strolling the event.

This is the 11th year for the Brookhaven Arts Festival.  The main focus is to introduce great arts to our community. The event includes food, drink and music. This year there will also be a classic car show.

The festival is held outdoors in the heart of Brookhaven, GA, on Apple Valley Road behind the Brookhaven MARTA train station, with plenty of parking.

Neighborhood demographics:

  • 71% white collar
  • average household income is $122,000
  • majority of residents have college degree or graduate degree.
  • This fair has a very loyal group of followers.

What the artists say about us:

Lena Stephen Saldivia-Jones - "5 star.
29e3fcda-5c69-460f-af90-a2677d89eaba.jpgThe Brookhaven Arts Festival is one of Atlanta's hidden gems: Great artists, great music, great food, but not so crowded and massive that you can't have a conversation with the artists.

It's intimacy is its strength.  Plus, it has the walkability factor and lots of kids' activities provided by local businesses.  I love going every year to talk with my neighbors, relax, hear some great music and have my senses wowed by the artists."

Kathy Wolfe  "5 star.  Great Fall Fest with a loyal crowd of attendees from the neighborhood!  Easy to do, easy to park, and the weather is usually excellent. Happy to have it come back around!"

Park Forest, Illinois

Downtown Park Forest

Presented by the Tall Grass Arts Association
10am-5pm
100 Artists

Deadline: June 27

The Park Forest Art Fair is an outdoor fair held in the streets of Downtown Park Forest.  Known as an exceptionally artist-friendly show (especially emerging artists-friendly) because of its amenities for artists and reasonable registration fee, the fair features:

  • $175 Registration fee
  • $2,500 in cash awards and purchase prizes
  • a complimentary breakfast on Saturday morning and a fabulous dinner party for the artists on Saturday evening after the close of the fair
  • Overnight security on Saturday night, which includes conveniently located, locked storage space
  • booth sitters are available as needed over the weekend

1193.jpg?width=300Artists who participate in the fair report their pleasure that fair attendees, traditionally, stop and chat with the artists.  One artist, who shows regularly through the Midwest region, reported that he sold more artworks on Saturday of the fair than he had sold in a single day at any other fair in which he participated.

The fair is promoted in the regional press (magazines and newspapers), social networking sites and

advertised on WFMT and WBBM radio during the morning rush hour.

On Saturday, the Village hosts a music fest. It features jazz, pop and blues. On Sunday, the music continues. There is a variety of food vendors and a activities for children.

2234.pngThe fair has won the ArtFairInsiders recognition as one of the best small art fairs two years in a row. Here is what the artists have said:

I met the nicest people there, exhibitors and patrons. It was a joyful little show. You might want to try it sometime. Nels Johnson, reviewer on ArtFairInsiders.com

You, your staff, my fellow artists and all the people were all

wonderful. The quality of art on display was extremely high an I was humbled to be included. Bob Decker, artist, Wapello, IA

I was well looked after. The arts committee was ever present. They fed us, booth sad and probably would have spoon fed me had I asked. Sales? Very good ... way beyond expectations. I strongly recommend this show.Stuart Rein, Goodyear, AZ

The application and information can be downloaded from:
www.tallgrassarts.org

Approval through the jurying process also confers the

ParkForest4

status of Gallery Artist and permits artists to participate in the annual Tall Grass Gallery

Artists Exhibit.

Note of interest:

The Village of Park Forest was built for the purpose of housing GI's returning from WWII.  Incorporated in 1949, less than 6 years later, it was home to an arts association that operated a gallery, school and art fair.  The arts association was followed a few years later by a symphony orchestra, classical chorale and resident, equity theater company-a very welcoming home for the arts and for creative people!

Please  join us.

The Thames River Art & Craft Show is excited to be bringing some very talented exhibitors to Southeastern Connecticut.

Our goal is to provide a premiere art and craft show to Southern New England, a boon to the regional art and craft industries, and to enhance the cultural landscape of New London.

Location: The 2015 Thames River Art & Craft Show will be held on the Mitchell College campus, with an beautiful view of the Thames river as a backdrop. We will be offering both indoor and outdoor spaces.

New London is home to several lighthouses as well as historic districts. Nearby towns include affluent Old Lyme, Mystic and Stonington, as well as suburban communities and a thriving arts scene.

Marketing Plan: We are and will be doing extended social media marketing and internet advertising, as well as paid advertising in local print publications and radio and distributing flyers and posters across Connecticut and Rhode Island.

One of our major attractions is the quality of the venue and the great food that will be available. We will be treating our exhibitors and members of the local civic and arts community to a reception at a local establishment on Saturday evening after the show. We have also partnered with several local hotels to provide reduced rates for the exhibitors.

Chicago, Illinois
Presented by Edgewater Artists in Motion
Over 100 Artists

Deadline: June 1

Edgewater is a lakefront community area on the North Side of Chicago. Our event got its start during the economic downturn when residents of the area decided to fill our empty storefronts with art. This simple activity turned the neighborhood around as the storefronts soon filled up again with new tenants, leaving no room to display the art.

Building on this economic activity, in 2013 the Edgewater Fall Art Fair was started. In its first year it drew about 5000 people and was described by 48th Ward Alderman Harry Osterman and many attendees as "phenomenal."

Last year we hosted 100 artists and great sales for many of our exhibitors. In 2015 we are extending the fair another block, bringing the beer garden onto the street. We have an extensive marketing push to make the fair a "must attend" Chicago event.
Expect:
  • an eclectic mix of fine art and fine craft
  • local performing artists and area musicians
  • beer garden and local food court

Spaces are $150/corner space additional

This is your chance to be part of a newer event where the community is eager for a successful show that will show off their cool neighborhood. Spend a beautiful fall weekend in Edgewater with us.

Call for Artists: Salida Art Festival

80 Artists
Deadline:  March 25

Booth fee: $330; Corner add $75

The 2nd annual "Salida Arts Festival" is located in one of Colorado's premier arts destinations.  Salida was rated #30 in John Villani's book "The 100 best art town in America." The fair is located on, and visible from one of the major east/west highways in the state and held at the height of the tourist season. The town typically draws thousands of destination tourists in the summer and they all will drive past the show location.

The show is all about 2D and 3D art. The Arts Fair is run by and for artists. The director, Jerry Scavezze has done (and is still actively doing) shows for over 20 years. It is promoted and managed by artists with more than 50 years experience participating in juried art festivals. They understand the needs of artists and the importance of a show's location. The Show would make a nice add on to Cherry Creek or Breckenridge over the 4th of July, or Boulder or Ft. Collins the following weekend.

We are committed to major and wide-spread advertising. The County Visitors Bureau and Salida Chamber of Commerce are promoting the event as well. We promote the show both in print and on NPR, in nearby tourist towns and in cities with established art festivals.

Changes for our second year (per artist suggestions):
  • some acoustic music
  • an upscale food truck or two so people don't have to leave the event for lunch

Participants said of the inaugural show:

  • Congratulations on pulling off a hugely complicated and difficult task. I believe you will succeed and show others what a fair with heart looks like.
  • Normally I never do a first year show, but I wanted to support a fellow artist trying to create a venue with heart. You came with very positive feedback from my fellow artists that I respected, so I took a chance and really did well.
  • Two of my biggest customers were tourists who saw the show from US 50 as well as the signs posted on the highway.
