JUST WONDERING--MT. DORA?

Well last weekend was also Mt. Dora Art fest (same time as Ft. Myers) a big show with 300 exhibitors.

There were a number of AFI-ers in the show.  Yet no report.  Why is that.  Come on guys, do a little sharing,it wont kill ya to write a few words about it.

I know of at least one photographer, whose first name starts with "R", who was there.  How about a report.  All that "lurking" is not good for your health.

Patiently waiting as always--and grateful for any news.  Nels.8871902498?profile=original

  • Maureen, I know it is not possible to check on every hotel you stay at but when possible I check Tripadvisor.com.  That has saved me from some dives.  We have also stayed at our share of Days Inns.  I noticed that while they seem to be fixing up the outside of the hotels, the insides are very old, dirty, and well used.  I will never stay at another Rhodeway Inn again.  We stayed at the world's filthest in Philadelphia once.  I think we were moved to 3 different rooms before we found one that was the best of the worst.   And there is a "resort" in Irwin, PA that was the king of the derelect hotels.  I had never seen shredded towels before in a hotel!  If I am on my way somewhere and need a hotel my sister is more than happy to get online and check hotels out for us.  Then, as we arrive to the next town our hotel is ready for us.  If you have a chance, check out Trip Advisor.  I have decided that if at all possible I am not staying in those horrible places anymore.  I used to tell my husband that staying in one of those od places couldn't be any worse than camping.  I have now decided yes, it coud be.

  • Did the loss  of jobs from the space coast  have any effect on Mt Dora sales this year?

  • Did you get to see George Clinton at ABE? it was so much fun ...

  • Atta girl, Maureen! Great to hear from you again. Nice report and fills in a lot of empty holes.

I know the fun of running into friends on the road. It always surprised me, at rest stops, in bathrooms, in restaurants, passing them and then slowing down when they were spotted. I wonder if there is any other business where the participants recognize each other on the highways? Hope you had your Red Dot on your bumper, that should help.

Pretty strange how different days bring different crowds. I had forgotten the possible impact of Super Bowl on last weekend's shows, but I'm sure it is there. I try to avoid Days' Inns at all costs. They used to be clean and fine, recent years, scary as you said. What's your next show?

  • I'm with you on that, Nels!
