About us:

  1. Historically we are a Touring Exhibition Company operating at Major Events across Canada, the USA and England.  Initially we sold only our own home-spun range of Art. Building on that we  expanded to sell thousands of art images at these events to thousands of clients who then form our database of qualified buyers.  In the past on Tour we have met dozens of Artists.  Some of the work we liked, so we began to promote their work both on Tour and Online.  This has been hugely successful.
  2. In the past 5 years we have taken on Tour some work from these new but established Artists who form our stable.  The thing they have in common is that their work sells strongly online.
  3. In the past two years we have been inundated with a large amount of Artists who want us to take their work on Tour.  It is not possible to take everyone on Tour so therefore we offer the Online Platform where artists can show and sell their work to our ever growing database of qualified buyers and enormous amount of online buyers.  We, nowadays, select our On Tour range from some of our most successful online Artists

Currently we have a proud statistic that shows that 93% of all our new Artists joining our online platform successfully sell their work within the first three months.

We offer three opportunities to artists:

  • A online studio where you can upload images, using state of the art tools that enable you to print on a wide variety of 9 different substrates - from canvas to metal and everything in between, for your own use or to sell to clients
  • Your own online gallery where clients come to shop
  • An opportunity for your work to be exhibited at first class venues throughout North America

I am very interested. My 2 partners and I have been looking for show alternatives. I will be getting in touch with you during March. We are currently getting some new and better photos.

This is an interesting alternative and there is money to be made here. If you are wedded to making "one of a kind" and want to do the face to face at the art fairs this will really take a lot of rethinking of your business plan. That being said, there are a lot of ways to earn money with 2D work. This is a marketplace that does not require artists to be present. It takes some great work and some serious business smarts to make it work.

Hi Connie,

Sound great! I will look into it in more detail. If Art Fair members join I hope they will post their experience.

Thanks for the info! Also the URL you gave does not work. I went on Google and used the following: http://macjacartiststudio.com/

How embarrassing -- a bad link. You'd think I'd know better! I've fixed it now. Thanks for the heads up, Jim.

Anyone up for going this route? or has anyone been using these kind of services?

Sounds interesting and perhaps the wave of the future, eh?

Here is a good article with statistics about people buying art online -- including:

  • Buying art based on a digital image has become the norm, and buyers are confident doing so.
  • 71% of art collectors have bought art online sight unseen.
  • Buyers of all ages are making art purchases online.

Here it the rest of the article from ArtsyShark.com: http://www.artsyshark.com/2014/02/13/why-artists-must-be-ready-for-...

Read it. Think of the alternatives. Make a plan for the future.

This looks very similar to Fine Art America. You need to decide the quality of the product that you want sell to your customers. The file size that they use will determine the detail in the final product. My giclee reproductions are scanned with a flatbed scanner (not photographed with a digital camera). They are color proofed by the technician who can match the colors by comparing to the original art at hand. Then I do final proofing - removing dust, debris, etc. All mine are hand signed, limited editions. The file size of my proofs for a 30x40 image is 100mb. Unless you pay for double shipping - MacJac to you for signing and then you repack and ship to your customers, you will not be able to do hand signed limited editions.

Perhaps the quality, or hand signed limited editions are not an issue for you. It is a different product for a different market.
