Yay! Made three sales today!

No, it's not from an art fair. It's my Etsy shop. I was surprised that I had three orders come in today. Normally my Etsy sales are slow. Yes, I do run an Etsy shop in concurrence to the art fairs. It gives me a little more income but not much.

But as an added bonus from my shop online is that one order went to Australia on June 1st and two orders went to Canada in the past few weeks. How many of you also have online sales to correspond to your art fair sales?

  • My Etsy store, https://www.etsy.com/shop/kpdreams,  has become my strongest income, over shows.  I have cut my shows down to those that are definately profitable, (fees, travel, meals and motel considered) or are just plain fun and my husband and I enjoy the event.  Christmas has been very good to me and as the industry stats reflect, sales increase for online shopping each year, as do mine.

  • Well, now I've made 7 sales in December. My Etsy orders are far outpacing my art fair sales this month...

  • Okay, now you're just bragging...ha!  Congratulations!

  • Oooh! Just made another sale tonight. 5 sales from Etsy in December!

  • After years of procrastinating and slowly designing a website with a storefront, I now take orders directly through my website: EvanReinheimer.com

I don't think my work would do very well on Etsy...

  • Thanks, Scott, I was beginning to think that Etsy ads might help...nice to know that I don't have to spend extra cash, will just sit tight for now.

  • Thanks, Cathy and Britt...this is such great information, I've been so discouraged and even thinking of not relisting when my time is up, now I know I just have to hang in there a little longer and give it more time.  Will continue to add new items and post them on my facebook page too, great idea.

  • Yes, the Etsy advertising is very misleading. They charge you on impressions not views which is intirely useless...
  • I agree. Dont pay for their advertising. I pay to relist items but thats it. Their advertising never got me sales.
  • It took me several months to make that first sale and the whole first year was not that great. However, the way etsy's search engine works, the longer you are there, the more you show up. Also it makes a big difference how many items you have. Once I got past 100 items, I noticed a big jump in views. It is worth it to take the time to read all the info on the site about titles and tags and how that affects search. DO NOT pay etsy for advertising - it is not cost effective. Other than putting my shop on my business card and posting on facebook when I add something new, I do not promote it that much. Good luck and give it more time.
