I was wondering if anyone has heard of MagicPay mobile processor? Their rates seem good, and they appear to have a nice marketing program with FanMinder (also a company I am not familiar with) that comes free with their service, but I can't seem to find many reviews or info on the company. I am currently using intuit, but need to switch because  they do not offer an easy way to collect customers' emails. I was also wondering if anyone has had much luck with email marketing their art? I was also considering using a better known business like Paypal who integrates with constant contact (a more well known email marketing co.) , but they charge more,. Doing research on this has slightly overwhelmed me. Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

  • i use phone swipe.   it is great.  i get a copy of the emails they send to the customers.   phoneswipe was founded by an artist coop.

i also put the emails on the top of the receipts.  i keep the top copy for my records.  so i have the emails for customers that pay by other means.

as a backup i have the square just in case something goes wrong

  • Yes, I know. I was hoping that you had found a receipt book that had it already printed. I'll check into getting a rubber stamp made and use it to insert the necessary info.

  • Weldon...Most standard off the shelf receipt books do not have a space for the email and phone# so it is necessary to go to a printer

    1. Greg, I like the idea of having your customers fill out the info in a receipt book. Have you run across one that has a space identified specifically for email they can fill in? If so, could you furnish the name of the company that prints/publishes the receipt book?
  • I have never heard of Magicpay...perhaps a spinoff of MagicJack?

I use Intuit and Square and am happy with both. As far as collecting emails goes, I also use a receipt book that makes a carbonless copy and I have the customer fill out their name, address, phone and email while i am processing the credit card transaction. This is a simple and effective way to get the emails and it is a very rare occasion when someone doesn't want to write down their email.

I do not email market my work but I do send thank you emails and holiday emails that happen to include a link to my website. I haven't made a website sale since yesterday.
