Jewelers Only Zoom Discussion

Jewelers Only – July 15 @ 3:00PM
At the request of jewelry artists for a discussion area, we set up a ZOOM call for jewelers only. It is a chance for you to talk with each other about:
  • How to set up your booth for distancing?
  • How to allow customers to touch & experience your jewelry in a safe way?
  • How to keep yourself safe in such an intimate experience?
  • And whatever else you want to talk about.
ArtFest Fort Myers staff will act as moderator and leave all the insight up to all of you to discuss. We are also bringing one of our Board members, Mark Loren, who is 35-year internationally award-winning jeweler with a studio/selling gallery in Fort Myers. He has be reopened for about a month and can share his customer - staff interaction experience with you. See him at MarkLorenDesigns.com
Email us at erin.jackson@artfestfortmyers.com for the Zoom Login info.

  • Thanks, Sharon! Appreciate the reply and all the information you have available to artists on your website.

  • So sorry the Jewelers Discussion isn't on our website yet. Our webmaster was sick (not COVID) and had to take a few days off. We hope to have it loaded Wednesday AM 7/22. Also we are trying to get a recording done with our Board member and jeweler Mark Loren on his experience with customers as his studio/gallery has been reopened for about 4 weeks. We will send all jewelers on our email list this info when it is posted. And we will post in this blog as well.

  • Has anybody been able to hear the recorded Zoom meeting yet? I can’t seem to find any link to it on ArtFest Fort Meyer’s website and would love to hear it. Thanks for your help-much appreciated!

  • Missed seeing this in time....

This year, my "big show" (Comic Con Art Show) is on-line, on Tumblr, with the organizer promoting participating artists. This is the first time for it, and it looks like less than 100 will be participating; anybody who had registered for the physical Art Show could, they just needed to RSVP/get 3 posts approved for the promotion... and have some way to take payments on their own. It's a "learning experience" for everybody involved-- CC staff, Art Show directors, and artists... but (this time at least) there was no charge to enter, and the Tumblr accounts are free.

As for distancing, etc.-- the way the physical SDCC Art Show is set up/conducted, artists set up their space, then leave, and staff takes care of sales. Attendees don't touch pieces until they buy them, unless they have a staff member intercede, and to buy, a staff member removes it from the display and walks it to the check-out. For tables, there is a barrier about 2' or so away from the displays; if you hang items on a panel, people can get a closer look, but staff/security watch and "remind" people "no touching" and "no photos" (I've never lost anything at this show due to "evaporation" nor to breakage by anyone but myself).

My biggest "arrrrghh!!!" right now is that my website has gone poof. Slapped together a quicky Wordpress one, and may possibly transfer my domain there, but this was not a good time for this. And can't get an answer from the host (Weebly) as to what to do to restore it (if possible), even after jumping through all the hoops to find their contact form; it's been over a week, and they had said they would reply within 24-48 hrs.

  • This discussion was recorded and will be available on the Artist Resource page on our website this weekend. ArtFestFortMyers.com/artist-resources

  • I was unable to attend the Zoom meeting this afternoon. Is it possible to see a recording?

  • I failed to see I needed to email Erin for the zoom link. Does anyone have it they can share with me?
