Call for Artists, Making Money at Juried Art Fairs, Craft Shows and Festivals

Who is going to Crosby Festival of the Arts?

We were juried in, and are getting ready for the festival, but wonder who else will be there?  If you have done the show before are there any great tips to share?  Value your feedback!  And if you have done the show, any recommendations for places to lodge for the weekend?

Take fans and have a decent awning in the back to block the sun as it gets hot as the blazes. If you're lucky and under the trees, take lights as it's dark under there. Take good walking shoes as it's a good hike from the parking lot to the artist's field. They have golf carts and vans to get you from the parking lot to the field so if you're patient there will be a lift available. I'm on the wait list after being in it last year for the first time. I stayed at a Red Roof Inn last year about ten minutes away.

I'll be doing the show again this year.  I make wooden jewelry boxes and it has been a good one so far.  I agree with all of what Robert has said in his comment.  Try to avoid booths 57 - 86 in the yellow section and 103-119 in the orange section as most of them are exposed to the sun and can get hot.  They also don't have much storage area behind the booths.  Most Toledo hotels are quite reasonable, I'm sure that you can get a good rate at something within 10-15 minutes of the art fair.

We did this show a number of times over the years. It is a lovely park. There are some logistical issues, getting in and out, but a nice place to spend the weekend. There is plenty of reasonably priced lodging nearby as already noted. We also stayed at that Red Roof.

I attended in 2013 and here is my report:

It was a nice show last year and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get in off the wait list this year.

And I am excited to be there this year for the first time. I hear they mix up the vendors every year. Artist friends tell us they were in 3 years in a row and have been wait listed 2 years in s row

I am thrilled to have been accepted on my first try to get into this show. I will be showing my mixed media paintings. It's a real honor to get in, and I'm very thankful!

Kelly - me too on the honored! Will be there with my silk and hubby's handcrafted soaps. What area did you pick? We asked for the red area

I was called off the wait-list this week. Now that I've read a few of the comments I question if I should have asked for one of the shaded tree areas. But -- being a wait-lister, I'm sure that most of the shady spots are long gone.

I was glad to read many of the positive comments about the show and I hope to meet some of you there!
