Call for Artists, Making Money at Juried Art Fairs, Craft Shows and Festivals

This sounds like an opportunity too good to be true and well you know what they say about that. It sounds like an amazing event for artists but when you look at their website there isn't that many artists, compared to what their saying. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it just another scam taking advantage of artists or is it a genuine opportunity?

An organization called Artists Wanted ran an online competition this year "your art in Times Square" and it had a lot of "noise" online, people getting their friends to vote for them, arts groups talking about it and pushing each other and voting for each other. Yes, you can get 1000's of people to vote for you! Heck, on this site we can get 1000's of people to read the posts...

Brian, the man who is CEO of TheArty.com has spoken with me. When I received his emails it looked way fish-y and I did not respond, so I definitely understand your hesitancy. Here is what I know. He does live in Las Vegas. He seems to have good connections, etc. What he told me when we spoke was this: "I was watching a golf tournament and saw people winning $1,000,000 prizes and wondered if anyone in 50 years would be able to recall the names of the winners. Then I thought of artists from 50 years ago who many of us would know their names and thought why not a competition where artists could win this kind of money? Artists deserve it more than athletes as they are contributing to society."

So, I looked again at his site. He did advertise the event with me. I believe the prize money will be there. There will be an exhibit at a wonderful gallery space in LV and the idea of the competition is pretty interesting. He wants to find undiscovered artists and give them a chance. I'm still a little skeptical, but I've been watching the site and what is going on and am feeling cautiously optimistic. Too good to be true? I hope not.

yes, that's why I'm concerned if it's real or not

Is this what you are questioning?  Seems very different than the normal opportunities we have.  Do you have 1000's of people who would vote for you??
