Show chairs

My director chairs I have been using for twenty years are worn out. I have seen several artists with nice heavy wooden framed chairs and padded seats. They are not the x crossed leg directors chairs but four legged straight or slightly curved leg type. Can anyone tell me where to find them? Have searched on line but apparently not under the correct description.

Thanks

Ed Schmidt

  • I think I may have found it "Totally Bamboo" for anyone who might be interested-
  •  I'm also looking for a new directors chair- I have noticed a certain chair at shows which is wood with a padded seat- at this point I cannot recall the brand name-

The first writer (Pat) mentioned about how great his chair but didn't give a brand name- Any suggestions would be appreciated!

  • To those who scorn the idea of ever sitting during a show. I'd like to hear what you have to say when your knees go bad or you develop back problems or arthritis.

We all love Jan but she is not out here anymore, hopefully sitting on a beach somewhere. What I find when I can sit for 10 or 15 minutes at a time when I am in the booth 10 to 12 hours a day I am better meeting and greeting.I do not know anyone that is good on their feet that long,it is not healthy.
  • Thanks Connie:
I just asked a simple question and I guess there were no simple answers for some people. I did get a lot of good information about chairs and even made arrangements to buy a couple of good used ones from one responder.
Hope to see you soon. Maybe Spring Birmingham as that is the only show I now do up your way.
  • AMAZING! I think this has been the most popular topic ever!

My input -- my friend, Jan Richardson, never had a chair in her booth -- and I learned from her, get your face out there and be busy... of course there are reasons for some why you need a chair, and Ed -- I never have passed your booth that you weren't ready to meet whoever was in front of you and never noticed a chair ;)
  • Thanks for the info. I have heard a great many good comments about your chair. I bought one of your san pan hanging chairs many years ago at the Columbus (Ohio) Arts Festival. It's still hanging on the porch in great condition and the grand kids love it.
  • I give artists a discount on my artist chairs, you pay $300.00 not $350.00.Which is about what it costs me to make them, with the cost of Mahogany, stainless steel, cordura and dycron batting. I also give artists a life time waranty and refinish with a new seat for half price. The best thing about my chairs is that I am out there doing shows with all of you , so any time you have a problem, I'm there to fix it ! They are made one at a time in my shop in Monticello, not in CHINA! I have chairs out there that are 30 years old or more, and lots of happy customers.
  • Thanks for the info. I've wanted to visit an IKEA store and now have a good reason to
  • My sturdy wood stool with a padded seat and nice back rest also puts me at eye level with my customers. Less than $100 from IKEA. The model name is "Henriksdal."
