Prescott AZ Mothers Day Show

We just did this show this weekend, and while we tripled what we did in the other Prescott courthouse square shows and did well, it was still a bit less than I would have wanted.  It was very crowded, we had a great location, the curb step up and step down is a problem for some folks to easily enter the booth, but all in all it was a good show and will do it agian.

  • No pics, Annette.  Next time.
  • Great to hear you had a good show Daryl - any pics?
  • This was my first time doing a show in prescott for about 5 years.   I did terrible at the shows in the past so i figured the heck with doing shows in prescott.   A good percentage of the art if you could call it that was Buy/Sell.  The shows in prescott are juried by ck.   You send them a ck you are in the show.  It is not only me that thinks this.   I did shows in Summerlin NV last year and quite a few people from there used to come to prescott,  NOT ANYMORE  because of the buy/sell stigma.   I did not do great at this show but i would consider doing the one in august. because i live 2 miles from the square.  Now i was told they are going back in august to the orginal way it was.  well i hope the jurying is better than before.  But expect quite a lot of buy sell.   I have been at this over 20 years and have seen a lot of shows go to the dogs.  Boulder City is one of them.   That used to be a great show and clean  no buy sell now  buy sell is all over the place.   go fig.
  • Steve, just curious, why do u think it was a bit better than the other"courthouse' shows which were for us terrible???
  • I too did the show.   Did not make a lot of money but FINALLY a good show on the square in prescott with decent art.  It was a fine art show and that is what they had.  Fine art and a few crafts.  It was crowded both days  but few bags went by,   artists around me did well and i did ok for a home town show and would consider going back.   The big hitch was setting up.   We had to wait for the office people to leave the courthouse before we could set up  so a 6 pm setup turned into a 7 pm set up.  Tear down- Seemed to be a free for all, but we all worked together and it was easy.   Several artist left on Sunday morning because of winds predicted at 45mph which never happened.   It was windy but not that bad.  The crowd was for  me a better buying crowd on Sunday than Sat.  Also  a lot of buyers from out of town visiting mom.   There is another show in Aug. but supposedly reverting back to the old type of show B/S.   And yes August is our rainy season.  One other note the Courthouse was full.  Past few years have not been able to fill shows on the square.
