  • Thanks Connie... who wouldn't like the idea of making money online and being able to spend more time in the shop creating work? I sure like that idea. I listened to the podcast and even before doing so I did as much research as I possibly could find about David Emmons and his online course. I could not find anything that I didn't agree with.

    I realize it will take a lot of work and effort to build up sales through this marketing system...but I am going to do it because i feel it is worth my time. Yes, I could probably figure alot of this out without taking the course but I like the idea of having the help of the course and their support group...$1000 is not going to make or break it and we are worth it...

    Carol and I have done every show together and she is always 100% supportive through the good and bad shows. She is even going to study the course with me ...2 heads are better than one. With both of us being 71 it would be nice to do more online and on an ongoing basis.

    I will keep you updates as to how it progresses....

    My point is that if you are a more independent DIY  person, you can find a lot of info about what to do just by reading. About 15 minutes of reading and you will have enough info to keep you busy for months. It's doing the actual work. The knowledge is easily accessible.

  • I only have an etsy shop with very minimal listings- 6 months of the year my shop is completely empty- art shows. Selling online has turned into a very minimal hobby for me. My shop only has just a few functional pieces of pottery.  BUT, even with all of my neglect-I have sold over 600 pots online. I have also had some very good opportunities from being online, most of which I could not pursue due to the time caught up with the art shows.

    My point is that if you are a more independent DIY  person, you can find a lot of info about what to do just by reading. About 15 minutes of reading and you will have enough info to keep you busy for months. It's doing the actual work. The knowledge is easily accessible.

    I don't know facebook, but selling online does not have any special mysteries or magic that I am aware of. A lot of it is getting customers to your site- continually. The great thing about the internet is that there are a lot of people who participate and freely give out LOTS of info and free help.

    I mean no disrespect to Dave who seems like a really nice great guy. Just sharing my own experience.

  • Yes, testimonials ... a few of his clients did post in the run up to this. You can find them in Annette Piper's discussion. I'm sure he can furnish them. But also, for me under consideration, I know I've been online with FB pages for 10 years. I only have 7000 followers. He's been on for 3-4 years, he has 85,000 followers! Granted he has pursued them more than I have, but still ...

  • I agree Jeff! I feel the same way. I have scheduled that free podcast meeting today. I will do some more research on him and his work before I decide. Seems to be too good to be true. I have put a posting on Westcoast Artists on Facebook asking other artists if they knew about this podcast and about Dave Emmons but I only got one reply otherwise no reaction whatsoever.

  • I was very attracted to the appeal of David Emmons course ($1000) so I attended his webinar a month ago.  I took notes furiously but upon reviewing them I realized that David gave clues to his program but not actually how to do the process. After all he is selling his program-and the appeal is very compelling. What I need before I spend money I can't spare right now, are testimonials that confirm that his extensive program can work for me & others. If it does, I'm in.

    My show sales are not great so if this could produce for me, I'm all in.

  • Greg, why travel forever?? why not build an audience where it doesn't take such a toll on your time, body and $$. The high overhead of art fairs can be alleviated, I believe, by doing fewer shows, especially the marginal ones, make sales online and shoot for the big shows. Plus, it means as you get older you have built a business that means you don't have to meet every customer in person.

    (On that note. You've been a participant on this forum for a long time and I feel like you and I know one another. Meeting you face to face would be great, it's a relationship we've established over the years. We've established a trust ... online marketing can do that for you too.)

    Thanks for the excellent podcast. Facebook marketing is something I have been really thinking about for a while and I knew I had to do if I want to continually grow and expand.I don't know much about computers and marketing but I am passionate about my wood art.

    David Emmon's podcast made me realize that I just need to redirect some of that passion to learning Facebook Marketing strategies... therefore I signed up for his online course toDay.

  • Connie, As you know I'm pretty much in the loop, as far as IT. 

    Currently, there is no way to keep someone from downloading a photo, they see on a website, to their own computer. Many simple methods such as disabeling right click, blank front layers, etc. However they only slow down or stop the lay person. This is the first image from that site. Artist Abdiel Acosta.  Look at it. it is not great quality, however ti will suffice for most people. It took almost 3 minutes to accomplish.1064281798?profile=RESIZE_710x
