  • Larry, it's certainly not meant as a negative to any medium.   The above three images were created using an on line poster and framing site that allows you to type in your message and have it printed out, framed and mailed.  Certainly you have seen the myriad of photo letters out there trying to get into shows?  This is just another version of stringing beads, using paint by numbers or assembling stained glass kits.

  • I don't understand this thread at all. It comes across as a negative reference to photography.

  • Mark, my OPINION (& you will get a lot of OPINIONS!) of ART are the following:

1.No Patterns. Forinstance~a strung necklace using different beads~may be pretty using great colors, but stringing is to me a patterned craft. (I'll get some slack from this one, I'm sure)

2.A form of uniqueness that you will NEVER be able to do or see again.

3.A "feeling" while you are making the product not always knowing what the finished product

       will look like.

    4. KILN-FIRED ENAMEL~unique sculpture~actually~many medias...

    5. Painting~Let your hand "feel" that canvas & allow the paint to fall or feather wherever it may.

    6. It's also an ART if you are painting that unique rose that you could never paint again~it just  "happened" with that "feeling" of your brush & of course your God given talent~NOT from a book or pattern.

     7. Total unique form, sculpture, & talent without books is an ART in my opinion.

I learned Art History in school, but as far as the "basics" of ART which most anyone can "learn" the TRUE Artist is either self-taught, or learns the basics & "SOARS WITH IT!!!"
