I just got an invitation off of the wait list for Baltimore ACC. I only have 8 weeks to prepare and am skeptical about spending close to 3000 for show costs alone. I make hand painted silk wearables that do well in the marketplace. I have been in the business full time for 11 years. I did the Rosen wholesale show my very first year and it was awful, but that was 10 years ago. I have done other expensive shows that have paid off well for me. I have done the Atlanta acc show and it was marginally worth it. I am trying to jump up a notch into the higher tier shows, and thought this might be a good place to try. If anyone has advice, I only have 24 hours to make this decision.
THANKS! Traci

Traci, I know that had to be a tough decision to make. The one thing to keep in mind is you were good enough to get in now and will only get better. Perhaps this show is meant to be for another time!
thanks everyone....I decided to decline.
Traci, I've done the show for the last 2 years and I know exactly how you are feeling! I was called the 1st week in February the first year. I would be more than happy to talk in a more private setting. 724-523-4780 Laurie_Leonard@msn.com. Call or email me if you'd like.
Traci, I always say when in doubt, leave it out. Now you can adequately do some research to see if you really want to do this show next year. I am not a big gambler and $3000 would keep me from taking a risk.
I envy the acceptance, I am trying to get in. We have done the ACRE shows with as you say marginal success in Orlando and complete catastrophe in Las Vegas. We are going to do the Rosen show in Philly this year and depending on that we are going to try Baltimore the following year. Has anyone ever done the Calif. Beckman Handcrafted??
Thanks for the helpful advice Diana and Paul. I appreciate your time and insight. I have decided to decline the show due to the money, lack of lead time and reviews/ advice from other artists.
Thanks again, Traci
Well Traci, the Baltimore ACC show is one of the best regarded fine craft shows in the country. If you got in, give yourself a pat on the back; there are many who would like to be in your position. As to whether to risk spending $3K; the sage advice would be, only if you can afford to take a loss. As we are all aware, nowadays every show is a gamble, regardless of its stature.
Go for it.
both..i'd love the advice
