I've been painting all my life, mostly wall art and murals, and I've loved it. Recently I was invited to a Meet-up for Children's Book Illustrators, and I've been intrigued ever since. I just self-published my first book "Olivia Ocelot Comes to the Rescue: Adventures in the Rainforest" which is set in Costa Rica. I am already cranking on the sequel, "Olivia Ocelot Saves the Day: Adventures in the Saguaro Desert" which is set in Arizona. This work combines my love of painting with my attraction to nature and animals. My husband said it's also because I never really grew up. Hmmmm?

Hello Kathleen Clausen, Thank you for commenting, I am really excited about this new direction - I used to do art on the side of buildings, and now I'm working in 17" x 8 1/2" size paper, but you know, it's all good!
Hello Christina, I started to respond, hit something and my response is out in Cyberspace. Anyway, just wanted to share that one of the speakers at an awesome Children's Book Illustrators Conference that I went to last November was Ashley Bryan, and Ashley is in his 90's. That shut up the little voice saying "You're too old to start something new" Baloney!!! And it was all started because of one meet-up group. So Cool. Thank you for greeting me, Christina!
So wonderful! I love Meet-Up groups and have joined a couple myself...it's a great way to network and meet people in your community who are doing or trying to do the same thing you are. Congratulations and please keep us posted on your progress.
