Shipping photos on canvas

Who is a good recommendation for shipping photos on canvas? Every typical vendor has priced me around $50--some artist told me he ships wrapped canvases for $15-is this for real? Thank you!

  • Look into getting a commercial account with FedEx or UPS.  It will save you money even if you take your canvas to their store.  If you box it yourself and print the label at home on your computer, you save a little more. I have a FedEx account, and they pick up for free if you schedule the pickup on their website. (UPS may do the same, I just don't know since I don't have an account with them.)

With FedEx, there is no minimum number of packages per month or anything like that.  Though your discount increases, the more you ship.

  • It costs about $15 to ship a 20x30 or 24x30 canvas via UPS ground. That doesn't include the cost of packaging and labor time which could take an hour or so depending on the size of the canvas and if a new shipping container has to be put together. I would use the original shipping boxes to save expense, but if someone does their canvases from start to finish, they will have to make their shipping boxes. That takes time. The cost of shipping will need to include your labor time, so the $50 seems a little high but that would take care of a lot of the hassle, time, and materials to ship something
