  • I live in Austin and considered doing the show.  $400 is a bit high in costs compared to the other shows.  There is Fiesta which is the premier show in San Antonio and costs less.  There are lots of shows in the San Antonio area that are good shows in the fall and cost less.  (Generally it's around $300, so the $400 price target seems high.)  Paragaon also did a show in Austin which I heard positive things about and it was also located in a high end shopping mall.  The main complaint that I heard was that people were coming to the mall area for other things and the show was a 'add on' so not that many sales.  The area where the show will be held is a great area and is definitely up and coming.  There are not many shows in San Antonio in the spring - most take place in the fall.  Check out the River Walk shows for a comparison, those are always well attended and from what I've heard have great sales.  They are in a very tourist area down by the River Walk.

  • Thanks that helps alot I am coming from Bellingham WA and would like to make it worth it! I guess I will see you there .....
  • Hi Tamara,

I will most likely do this show.  I am waitlisted for The Woodlands show that is the same weekend, so I am still waiting to find out, but still torn.  My folks live about ten minutes away from the location of the show, so I will have a place to stay and help.

I don't know how much help it will be, but I will share with you a few things about this area. It is a fairly affluent area.  San Antonio has not been hit too hard in regards to economy, and due to large natural gas formations in the area, there has been a bit of a boom.

The traffic can be pretty bad in that area. There has been construction going on to help with these issues and there are huge housing developments surrounding this shopping center, so not too far to travel for people who live in the area.

San Antonio does not have many art festivals to speak of, so there is definitely no market saturation.

I attended Bill Kinney's Fairview festival.  He was always available, and seemed to care a great deal about the artist's experience.  He had the advertising laid out when we checked in to show us where he advertised.  This was a nice touch. I believe he will make the most of the advertising dollars.

I wish I could tell you more, it is a new show, so it is anyone's guess!

  • Thanks Larry I will check this out...
  • The Paragon Texas shows are new. They did two last fall for the first time and artists had good things to say about them. Do a search for Paragon and you'll see that they do everything possible to give the artists the opportunity to sell.
