James (Jim) Eaton and his wife, Kathleen, traveled across the US for over 20 years exhibiting at art fairs and earning their living as artists. It was during this time that Jim designed America's first manufactured canopy weight still known as the Eaton weight system.

Jim, a graduate of the University of Illinois in industrial design, used those skills and a lifetime of art fair experience to design and perfect canopy weight solutions for US Weight.

US Weight is a manufacturer located in southern Illinois. US Weight is a division of Escalade Sports, which has been in business for over 80 years.

  • Right. Size matters! My husband had been a teamster before becoming a world famous photographer in the art fair business, and what he taught me was not to take large loads that would stress. Smaller boxes with handles, weights that could be tucked into spaces in the van, nothing that I, as a smaller person, couldn't handle easily. What else I like about them is they are stackable and don't take up a lot of room.

  • I've been using the Eaton weights for years and am very happy with them.  it is particularly nice for  carrying.  I'm an old lady and I can carry one 15 pound weight in each hand without a problem, while I have trouble carrying a single 30 pound weight.
