Hello, All:

I just received an application to this event and see that they have indoor spaces (with air conditioning!).   Does anyone have any comments about this show?  High end?  Low end?  Attendance?  Worth it?

Thanks in advance - and Happy New Year!

  • Thank you, David and Louise, for your comments.

  • I did the show about 5years ago. I did ok thanks to Mondays sales. They use to have the option of doing Thursday and Friday which were a bust. A mixed crowd of buyers and those who come to drink. If you live close buy it may be worth it.

  • I'm nearby. I did it last yr. I made money. Its 4 days and the hrs. are long.

    I applied for 2014.

You can do either indoors or out. i did in. It was windy outside.

  • Hi Melanie, I done Mayfair last year. This was the first year that they had moved to the new location. As someone stated before the old location flooded alot. This was my first to do this show but heard great things about it.
I done well enough to go back this year. But there were people that done well and a few that done terrible.
I make handcrafted pen and turned items. There was no others there with turned items so
    that gave me alittle advantage.
I was already excepted in for 2014. They send out early apps to certain ones and you don't need to go through the jury process.
Hotel expenses is my worst expense. I spent enough on hotels last year I could have bought a new popup or a small used motorhome.
So I would rate the show as an average show for me in 2013.
Hope to see you there. Stop in and say hello.

  • Thank you for your responses.  I have asked for a Mayfair exhibitor list so that I can contact some   craftspeople who have actually done the show to get some more info.

  • I've visited both shows and decided to apply to Mayfair in Allentown for 2014. It's not far from home, which will keep my costs down. I found the overall quality of work at this show to be quite high. The location is very good - The show used to be in a park along a river which tended to flood. Last year it moved to the current location, plenty of parking, much better. I love the idea of doing an indoor, air conditioned show when the weather can be uncertain.  Harrisburg seemed to be to be jewelry-heavy and I didn't see a whole lot of people carrying purchases. They have eliminated their entrance fee for this year, which may help a bit.

  • Of the two Harrisburg shows, the spring one is definitely the better one (the other is a three-day Labor Day event).

I have never done the Allentown show but my brother lives near there, and was just telling me on the phone Christmas Day that the area is really starting to boom: folks retiring from jobs in high-tax New Jersey are fleeing across the Delaware River to the Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton area.  So it might be worth a shot.

  • I don't know about Allentown but also consider Harrisburg that same weekend.
