Coming up Florida shows

Anyone know about these up coming shows in Florida?

Hyde Park, Tampa

Venice Art Classic

Uptown Art Expo, Orlando

The Gasparilla and Venice shows are the same day, does that change the crowds?

  • Thank you Robin!

  • I tired the show the very first year (even though "they" say first shows tend to not be too good) and then the next year to give it another chance. Although it is a beautiful area surrounding a lake, set up on nice pavers (road), easy set up and down, there just weren't the buyers. Many didn't even know the event was happening and they lived across the lake in the condos. Maybe when then have a few years under their belts and realize advertise, advertise, advertise, it will become a great show. It's a shame because it it probably one of the prettiest venues I have attended.

  • Thank you Joan, I haven't signed up yet and you have given me something to consider.

  • I did the Uptown last year. Big crowds came for the music and circus acts, they weren't interested in the art. People around me had low or no sales, and I didn't make the booth fee. I guess if you can be sure of an award it may be worth doing, but I will never be back!

  • Thanks Geoff!

  • Hyde Park is a pretty hip urban area of Tampa, younger than most shows in Florida. Venice is traditional older Florida crowd, lots of interest in conservative subjects like birds and boats and palm trees. Well attended.

Can't speak to the other shows you mentioned but it looks like others did.
  • Thanks Barrie! I've done one Howard Alan show in Venice earlier in the season, tons of people and lots of buyers, just not buying my stuff. I want to try the UAE, it is only an hour away so I think I will.

  • It looks like Hyde Park and Venice are Howard Alan shows. We've never done one of their shows.

Uptown Art Expo is at Altamonte Springs just above Winter Park (and the weekend after it) and although we've never done it, I see a lot of familiar artist friend faces holding awards from last year. Seems that those I'm most familiar with live at Orlando and actually in that area of the city. One of our friends pictured lives at Merritt Island, so he traveled a few miles, anyway. The Altamonte show might not be a good seller, but you'll only know if you go. We did Sanford last spring and Winter Springs this fall, both of which were well done by the committee. Sales were a bit slow overall.
