The Fairfax Corner Art Festival

Saturday, April 23rd, 2016 - Sunday, April 24th, 2016

The Fairfax Corner Art Festival is joining the Virginia tour! Fairfax Corner in Fairfax, VA is a wonderful, affluent community filled with professionals and beautiful homes. Perfectly situated 20 miles from Washington, DC, and 30 minutes from Alexandria, VA, Fairfax Corner is home to one of America's wealthiest zip codes. This exciting new show will take place in the upscale shopping village Fairfax Corner. The show is scheduled the weekend after the Arlington Art Festival and before the Virigina Beach Art Fair.
This annual outdoor street art show has been successful for many prior years, and Howard Alan Events is thrilled to be bringing it back!

  • Britt has it :-) The shows held on the grounds of a mall or indoors are a tough gig as the mall is the destination rather than the artists. HA may get it to work, and he certainly has the experience to pull it off. I've only had a couple of mall shows work well for me and those are years in the past. Once it was indoors and once outdoors but it was the same mall, Old Orchard in Skokie (?). Both times it was the same organizer, a local art league. Other organizers at the same mall bombed for me. Other mall shows just didn't work for me, but I've been next to other artists who had the right work and did okay.

  • I know Robert and I have a shared horrible experience at the Easton Art Affair show held at Easton Town Center, which is basically exactly like Fairfax Corner. These outdoor shopping centers are beautiful and heavily attended but Ive never done one where the people came to buy art (I think Ive done 10 or 11 now and am finally writing them off). They came for mall stores or restaurants and happened upon the art. You gotta get really lucky in that atmosphere. Maybe HA will be different...
  • You're right, though when I think of a mall I usually think an indoor shopping center with the booths inside, which I'm thinking is what Robert was referring to.

  • It even says "Fairfax Corner is a beautiful mixed-use shopping center that offers main street style shopping at both national chains and local boutiques."
  • Fairfax Corner is an outdoor shopping center. The pics in the link are the same venue where Paragon had their Fairfax Corner show the last 3 or 4 years. Its a great area, but still is technically a mall.
  • This is not a "mall show" -- right? It is an outdoor street festival I believe. I have to say, Alison, these link of shows looks good and I know you believe in maximizing profit by keeping expenses low. Hope it works for everyone.

  • I am going to give it a try.  I haven't done great there under Paragon but I haven't done awful.  I do live fairly close and it is a well off area.

  • "Mall shows are tough". Heh, I've got enough scars from those to convince me not to try them again. Maybe HA can pull a rabbit out of his hat with this one, but I'll pass on this one as it's too far and total costs are too high for me to try.

  • Paragon didn't do well at this venue. Not to say maybe with different advertising it wouldn't work. It's definitely a great area but mall shows are tough...
