Boardwalk, boardwalk (Drifters?) 2012

OK, I am wrong about so many things, and I am everything I am accused of being.

However, I haven't seen kudos to Virginia Beach.  Tiffany is doing great things with this show. I missed last year, but noticed several significant changes. For one thing, they have axed the funnel cakes. The new food vendors are local restaurants with great booths...sorry overpriced soda mug guy...

Also, they have moved the whole show up the boardwalk closer to the Hilton. Wow, this is unbelievable great. Made for a much better show.

Tif deserves Kudos, she has been going to Cherry Creek and other shows picking up new stuff. Great job to the whole staff.

  • Think we need a new discussion  ... most disgusting food at the fairs, or, maybe best art fair food.

  • Great news to hear of a show improving and artists doing well.  Thanks Paul :)

  • And the dread of fiber artists.  You don't want people touching  your handwoven clothing after they've gotten grease and powdered sugar all over themselves!!  I hate seeing funnel cakes at a show.

  • According the the Weight Watchers point system a funnel cake is enough calories for 3 days.

  • are you kidding??!! i could eat an entire funnel cake by myself..no sweat !!

  • Jacki, it's an old-fashioned "treat" that is a staple at state and county fairs.  Funnel cakes are made from something like a cake doughnut batter that was originally dripped through a funnel into hot fat, making a kind of birds' nest shape, then sprinkled with powdered sugar.  Seems like they may have sprung from Pennsylvania Dutch origins????  My kids still love them, although they are grown-ups now.  I think that they taste pretty good, myself, but only want about a mouthful.

  • Jacki, be happy you don't.  It is deep fried dough that sort of looks like  a round waffle sprinkled with powdered sugar and I am not saying it is bad but if you haven't tried it, don't.

  • How do I not know what a funnel cake is?

  • The size of the show was a bit smaller this year, and that was a huge plus in my book! A few less artists and quite a bit less food and drink vendors which was great! Keep of the good work Boardwalk

  • I have nothing to compare it to since it was my first year but I thought it was great.  Load in and out were not nearly as hard as I had been led to expect.  I thought they did a great job with load out.  I made good money and I got a small award.
