So, today I read a Facebook post about Mistura than annoyed me. The post was about how earth friendly Mistura is. I posted that it is not such a friendly company. Later, I received a message from someone named Daniel Schemel. Here is his message- "Hey Buddy, I saw your comment on - - - FB page and I am wondering what's not friendly about our company."Here is my reply- " Well, I am not your buddy & I don't like the fact that "your company" has booths at art fairs whose rules state that products must be hand made by an artist, & that that artist must be present in the booth. You are a production company & don't belong at art fairs. You are breaking the rules & taking money away from hard working artists".We will see if I receive a reply.
Connie wrote----If they are still getting into shows it is that who ever is in charge of the show deliberately chooses just to fill the space. This, of course, invalidates the very essence of what art fairs are supposed to be.
So guess who is listed to participate in the Gulf Stream Art Show mentioned on page one of the blogs? None other than these very watch guys.
Pretty much the jig is up on this. Enough show organizers have the information to know this is a very big business, not even a small production shop. If they are still getting into shows it is that who ever is in charge of the show deliberately chooses just to fill the space. This, of course, invalidates the very essence of what art fairs are supposed to be. What is special about the shows is you find work that you can't find anywhere else. That is one of the reasons people attend, to find treasures.
It is also hard to image how he can be present at more than one show at a time! As I have read, Mistura is present at various shows that occur at the same time. He must have an army of dopplegangers!;)
That puts a new wrinkle in it, Dee. I believe that Daniel is the name on the applications that the shows receive, so it stands to reason that is who shows up. If he is one of the owners of this large company, it is hard to imagine how he can also be at the shows.
Roxanne, do a search of Mistura here on this site, you will learn a lot about them! By the way, it turns out that Daniel Schemel is one of the owners! I thought he was just some dude who worked there lol!

Yes, he is breaking the rules...but the shows that set the rules seem to be breaking their own rules
