First show ever

The Maple Syrup Festival in Wakarusa, IN in 2005 or 2006. An outdoor craft show that turned out to have resale. All the vendors were new that year (no one returned). It was so cold and windy some tents were ruined and it started snowing. I sold one item in two days. (I actually came back the second day.)

What are the best things about art fairs

Customers appreciate the value of unique, handmade items as opposed to the mass produced things you can find at the store.

Best show ever and why

I've had several shows I was pleased with, especially in 2010, but nothing stands out. Still waiting for it I guess.

Worst show ever and why

No contest here: My 2nd or 3rd show, when I hadn't yet figured out to stay away from festivals. It was called "Valpo Fest" in Valparaiso, IN and they had a craft show. My jewelry was mostly pearls at the time, and very elegant. We traveled 1 1/2 hours to get there and found out it was a motorcycle show. I was stupid enough to come back for the 2nd day. Felt totally ridiculous with my pearls in the middle of all this black leather and Harley wear. There was also a Mary Kay lady who was in the same boat (they had resale there too.) Didn't sell a thing all weekend and doubt if I even passed out a business card. I was so relieved when it was over.
