A personal Project Going on 5 Years

My "Visitors to my House" project is five years old this month. I've been photographing everyone who comes to my house with something they brought. Most are artists who have brought their artwork for me to photograph.

The latest pictures in the gallery are two artists who brought their work to be photographed just the other day.

What to do with the pictures. Nothing was planned but they would make a good gallery exhibit.

Allan Teger (of Bodyscapes fame) thought I should put a series together and apply to a few high end shows, but they're not exactly mainstream sales material. I was going to apply to the Philadelphia Museum of Art annual photography competition a few years ago but they were using Slideroom.com and the thumbnails were cropped horizontal. That means for vertical images, the tops and bottoms were cropped off, and all my images are verticals.

I keep a book of 8x10 prints so I can show anyone who comes to the door what I'm doing. No one has turned me down yet.

I live about ten minutes off the Turnpike just outside of Pittsburgh. If anyone wants to stop by for a picture, you're more than welcome. Give me a call to make arrangements.

  • oops...not "for to be appraised"...just 'to be appraised' : )

  • Great project, Larry.  When I looked at the thumbnails they reminded me of the people at the end of the Antiques Roadshow program lining up to show what they brought for to be appraised.

  • So cool!  What will you do with them?

  • Great photos Larry. They were fun to look at and show the personalities of each person.

  • Killing the wasps and yellow jackets that live in the cracks in the bricks.

  • Such a cool project. Were you having asbestos removed or are you a beekeeper?

  • I get asked that a lot. He visits the nursing home next door once a week. He gave me his satchel to take home so he would have it there for the picture.

  • Love this project Larry.  My hubby enjoyed the photos, too.

But I have a question for you, how did you get your doctor to make a house call?
