Car Accident, What to Do Next

Posted on June 10, 2013 at 10:19am 33 Comments

I had a show in Salina, KS this weekend. Friday night, I was t-boned in the driver's side front by a drunk driver, though below legal limit, so he was not arrested. I was on a main road and he did not even stop at the cross street stop sign before plowing right into me full speed. How does one miss seeing a large white van with blue stripes running down it!? My driver’s side front suspension needs to be placed and door repaired or replaced. Frame appears to…

Blue Water Art Fair

Posted on July 26, 2011 at 3:04pm 2 Comments

This year was the second year for the art fair at the Blue Water Festival (Port Huron, MI) and my first at it. The Blue Water Festival is for the big boats for regatta and has music stages, and a carnival. There were 42 artists present with a wide range of quality. The show was Friday (11am-9pm) and Saturday (11am-8pm). Total booth cost is $200. Electricity was free, so you could run lights and fans!!

Set up was supposed to start at 11pm on Thursday. I arrived at 11:15pm to a…

Las Olas Part II

Posted on March 7, 2011 at 12:40pm 1 Comment

This was my second time at Las Olas. I did the October Las Olas last October. I only made almost 2x expenses at that one, but it was before many snowbirds were down. This was my third HA show. Despite the early same-day setup, I like his shows so far. No frills, but they bring in the people.

Weather was the big concern for the weekend. There were chances of off-shore rain on Saturday and the cold front on Sunday. We received rain both days in the mid-afternoon. At a small…

Artplosure, Raleigh, NC Show Report

Posted on May 17, 2010 at 10:09pm 3 Comments

This was my first year at this show. It is an art festival with music as a large component. Many people were there for the music as well as looking at the art.

The show runs from 10-7 on Saturday and 10-5 on Sunday. Setup is on Saturday. If you had an even number booth you could set up starting at 6:30 am. Odds could set up after 8:15 am. More shade can be found around the square, but I was located the furthest from the square in full sun. They feed you breakfast and lunch if…

Mayfaire-by-the-Lake, AKA Bake by the Lake

Posted on May 10, 2010 at 1:07pm 3 Comments

This was my 2nd year at Mayfaire. It is in Lakeland, Florida, around Lake Morton. It is a home show from me, within an hour’s drive. It is usually hot and a fair to good show for most.…

Hi Brett - I live in New Jersey and do shows mainly in the Northeast. I have avoided Manyunk because it's a difficult show to do and not a lot of high end artists (price-wise, although some good work). I've been to the show and live two hours away and it's not for me - I don't see a lot of buyers. I've never heard of Noho even though I do shows in Ct. Mystic is also one of those shows that's a puzzle. Their website claims huge attendance but I don't know any artists who exhibit and the northeast group is always recommending shows to each other. I do know Manyunk gets huge crowds. That said, take into consideration I've pretty much stopped doing most outdoor shows as I've found that the indoor shows (where people pay to attend) attacts a different type of crowd, more of buying crowd. But as someone else pointed out, it's a crapshoot depending on who you talk to. Good luck. Photography seems to be hot now. Ann
