Painting: Acrylic paint on Canvas and Mat Medium.Handwriting is a sensuous process of creating line, form, movement, the flow of energy and direction. We all write our names and create text differently and project the essence of our personalities in the manner of giving form to script and text. Add the dimension of color to highlight the power of the line, and construct a linear world that generates the warmth, the coolness and the heat of multi-layered zones. These layers of script and color reflect the ancient as well as the contemporary need for human expression and poetry. I have created a surface that goes from one level or zone of lines that swirl, interact, co-mingle, intertwine or intersect that generate a labyrinth of energy that moves at different velocities. The lines of paint open and meander in one zone, contract in other layers or zones, and then assemble and compress in the bottom of the painting. Each of these zones is delineated by a diverse range of colors threaded by the distinct colors of black, orange, red and gray, green, dark and light blue and white. An expressionistic, explosive use of line has been captured by artists before me, but in this composition I have attempted to arrive at a balance and harmony of the dynamic power of lines contained within horizontal structured layers that are both distinctly separate and unified as one within the total composition.
