My name is Crystal and I am new here, and new to the world of shows! I had a little store front studio, but have moved it to a spare room in my house. My questions are marketing / promoting myself. I am not comfortable (yet) when it comes
Since we live in Washington DC, we have many times visited the many Art Fairs in the area, including the well known Alexandria Fine Art Fair- however, always with our eyes on the art.
Yesterday however, we focused on the tents, panels, walls etc..
Decided to play both sides of the fence. In case you have not read my blog on Ann Arbor on the blog section of this site, you should. Lots of good info. Needless to say, the show sucked "Canal Water" for most artists. Check it out, lots of good f
As I watch the broadcasts from Ground Zero today I remember being at an art fair in St. Clair Shores, MI, on Saturday morning, September 15. The boy scouts marched in with the flag and the local Junior Miss led the assemblage in singing "America"...
A moral dilemma for a show director

A show has a rule that no reps are allowed. A sculptor wasn't allowed in because last year he sent a relative while he did another show. This year he was not accepted and told it was because he had sent s
I grew up in michigan and the art shows always seemed to do very well. I know the economy is awful there and people don't have money like they did 10-15 years ago, but is it worth doing any shows in michigan or are my chances better in other states?
I have been doing small/medium size shows now for 2 years. I have finally been able to replace my initial tent and walls. Now I am thinking about possibly trying some larger shows next year. Anything you would do to improve this booth? I am
I did a one-day show in Liberty in June. It was decent but way too hot. kept the crowds down. I broke even on my booth fee and since it was 10 miles from home my general show expenses were negligible.
I am a bit incredulous that a top rated art fair would allow their email and website to go down for days. According to a posting, it has been down since September 5th.
I try to and have set goals of doing something creative everyday but I feel I am not getting anywhere. Time is a big problem. I work 40 hours a week and home stuff nags at me. On my days off, well I am going in circles, with family, priorities, tryin
Okay kiddies, another big one coming up. Where will you be and what is your booth #? It is time for some get togethers. There are a bunch of shows in Chicago. Howard Alan has one in Aspen (doesn't that sound great?) and a whole lot of artists are hea
I wasn't really sure where else to ask this, but does anyone have any suggestions about what kind of glue to use to glue bone on bone? I have some animal skulls and I need to glue the jaws to the skull with the mouth open. I have tried Gorilla Glue
I have talked to my house insurer and to my other business insurer [I have a home office law firm with limited clientele] and to our auto insurer and, frankly, have not so far found any coverage for the artwork itself. I checked into this site's spo
You know the deal - the random couple stops in the booth during an art fair. The typical conversation ensues: "Love your work. Do you do commission work? Do you have a card?" Card exchange happens but rarely do you hear from the card taker.
