Food at shows

I have recently heard a story about a food vendor that cooks delicious sauteed artichokes at art fairs that was turned down by the Naples Florida shows with the notice that it was too much of the same old same old..??? How many times are you stuck at a show and all they have is Hamburgers. hotdogs, philly cheese and kettle corn, how nice to have something different to eat. As an artist with good taste in food, I am offended to hear that artichokes is the same old same old...any comments>>…See More

Suncoast Arts Festival at Wiregrass Mall 2009
It is located in the middle of a fancy out door mall with shops that I would go if I went to the festival and the people spend 3/4 of their money in the mall, not with the artists.

Tarpon Springs 37th Annual Fine Arts Festival on the Bayou

Posted on April 4, 2011 at 5:24pm 12 Comments

Well, this is a well attended art show and I did not see anything near or around me that was buy/sell. There were over 230 artists, a bit overwhelming for the patrons, but a nice weekend and fantastic weather.

I had picked my spot, same as last year and was happy to get it, then found out we had to cart in. I do these shows by myself and I do clay art/ceramic. It is heavy and then then weights as well as the tent...whew.  I accepted the fact that it would be tough, but the set up day…

Hi,

I am doing some research for the group that is putting on this festival, so they can get some feedback this year from the artists. So please give me your thoughts and opinions on this event whether you were an artist there or whether you just visited the event. I am unable to attend this year because I will be at the Manatee Festival in Crystal River Florida. This is very important for all artists that do outdoor arts events.

The feedback in the past has been negative as…

INDOOR Artist Market at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Fine Arts in Tarpon Springs, Florida

Posted on August 18, 2010 at 5:29pm 2 Comments

This event was a fundraiser for the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Fine Arts, since funding has been cut for the arts in this country, museums must rely on donations or fundraisers. It was held August 14 and 15 in the museum and we had about 25 local artists inside the A/C selling their wares. It was an excellent show for this time of year and weather here. This was a first time event, so the advertising could have been better, but even so, I was very pleased with my sales. The artists all donated…

Well, as some of you have guessed, I am new at this game. This is only my second year and have I learned alot and I DO have a lot to learn. I wanted to tell my story from this show.

Most of you know we did have snow in Florida for the first time in years and set up Fri the 8th was freezing cold. Came back early Saturday freezing, cloudy, little snow, few people. Most of the artists were bumming out. Some did NOT return the next day. Me, being new at…

Hey Roxie - thanks for the info. I've used p clay for repairs as well, but i've been tantilized by some creations by others who use p clay for sculpture. I'd like to hear from others who have experimented successfully before i put a lot of time and effort with little results.

I need a workshop!!!
