New Branufuls Texas - the staff bends over backwards to help. Ez load in and out, no dolly work. Nice smaller retail location but artist are not competing with "retail" GREAT demographic for abstract art, and my size art which is big. Very easy parking for shoppers. Frisco, McKinny are shows very good too. Turtle Creek in Dallas put on by Atlanta Foundation is great show because of location and KLLER demographics but hard parking for artists and shoppers. One way in, one way out unless you park and walk in. Some artist complain about staff and load in load out but I think he runs a good show, true its a tight ship, but he keeps the playing field even for all and is a very kind man.
Worst show ever and why
Before I chime in - I want people to understand if I post something it is the truth. I will call a spade a spade. No grey areas with me. These shows take way to much time, energy and money. If I see something that can help my fellow artist, I will make sure this info is out there. On the other-hand, if I experience something I believe could bite someone else, ,like it bit me, then I am compelled to share this as well. My set up is a 10x20 tent. I sell large abstract art. My avg. prices are 500-1500 with some works in the 5-8k range. We avg. 6000-10,000 per show. We started doing shows in 2016, ten to date. We have never zeroed at a show but had two shows we only sold one at( Roundtop & Discovery Green Houston) . We target the Texas market. My 2 cents - Roundtop Texas - The Compound indoor event - no publicity we could see. no signs. only 50 artists show up. they charged to get in....thats a learned no-no for us. Some artists were even allowed to show different mediums for sale in their booth, I thought the show was juried by what you submitted, guess not. On last day couple walks in says the just passed by, didn't see any signs or knew anything about. Many artists complained, I am betting few will return. The Domain in Austin by Blue Lotus productions - very bad show, staff was not ready, under staffed big time, and no direction. Some artist packed up and left, never saw that.
