"I am not sure whether I ever met Ron (though he does look familiar) but no matter. I am saddened for his family and for anyone who lost a friend that day. My heart goes out to all of you.
I am not a painter so honestly, when I first looked at your 3 images and didn't see a difference in style/medium, (but of course a jury would). Point is, they are -- to a layperson's eye -- similar. Some might…"
I agree with Sonja re. the bin and R wall. Have you tried it center back (it will "disappear" a little)? If you do, raise the pier image so they don't overlap. But definately not so the bin only half…"
"Hello, again, Cindy,
I agree with you and actually feel the same way. I generally have an air of: “if you don’t like what you see here, then go somewhere else”. And this works well for me in my own social vacuum; inside my studio,…"
Yes, it is always less stressful to acquiesce to whatever someone wants to refer to you as, knowing inside what you really are. But this whole issue is about Titles, Badges of Honor, Terms of Respect, etc. The title…"
"YES!!! I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR 35 YEARS!! I'm not hawking goldfish in a Baggie. I'm not selling crap from the back of my garage! I, together with the rest of us, am/are ARTISTS! Dammit! Refer to us as such!
Ok, OK. enough…"
"Hello Larry [directly],
I get a feeling from your follow-up that you're thinking I'm disagreeing with your original post... not in the least. I agree wholeheartedly!
Perhaps there is a tendancy among all of us to [subconciously]…"
"Hello Larry, et. al.,
Good outside-the-box comparison! Let's also consider those painters who do paint from the actual subject: landscapes are often elevated to the point of being worthy of National Park or Wonder-of-the-World status;…"
I just read this apology post and your original post ripping the judging... if you were to delete any post it would be your apology! The way most shows "judge" is a travesty. Not because I'm not winning (I actually…"
Well, now that you've shut the barn door, it's time to round up that horse! ;->
I'm a photographer, so do a TON of matting... You are thinking correctly with having standard frame dimensions for your…"
I, too, use Pro Panel hooks with my Light Dome and PP panels. I have 6 hooks, but would like to get more. The way I generally set up I could use 10 to cover every perimeter point not involved in a canopy corner.
"NO show I have EVER participated in for over 30 years now --W/S and Retail-- has EVER contracted out to a third party to arrange hotel contracts! Let's be clear... not that they have contracted out but didn't tell us; not that they…"
"I do this also, but this won't help for the immediate-case scenario. I would venture [without any objective proof] that I've done better with allowing a cell photo over a "look through my www", vis a vie an actual sale."
Direct sales and customer feedback for product refinement
Best show ever and why
Two shows/Two reasons:
Fountain Hills, AZ, 2002; this was our Peak Show (with a different product) before the Bush Economy ruined the direct sales art business. Literally - and I do mean literally - nonstop sales the first day and very brisk sales the other two. Grossed double our show average.
Lazy Daze A+C Festival, 2015; I won Best of Show - Photography!
Worst show ever and why
... That's a pain you forget... but any show that flat out lies about product mix (buy/sell), placement (removed off in a hidden blind alley), or any other aspect under their control.
Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.
I really do not remember... probably a Google search for a specific show or a reference in an email...
What is one fun fact about yourself?
I don't have any formal education in Photography... or the Arts... I can't even draw a decent Stick-Dude!
