  • What about sand bags?

  • Hard to say without seeing it or comparisons, but a huge mistake people have is thinking the high end tents are secure enough as is. Despite what many canopy sellers advertise, whatBarry andPaul say is true... every tent needs a lot of weight and some type of sta bar support. I do 45 pounds (kettlebell) per leg and it makes me feel better, but the real way to sleep better at night is (always check first) if you can use those spiral dog chain stakes into grass and ratchet those to your tent. Super strong....

Beyond that, I would watch some video or read instructions again and practice setting it up to make sure you're not forgetting something. It's time spent now which is always at a premium on show weeks, but it will save you time on set up day so there is a tradeoff.

  • Use ratchet straps diagonally two to a side (except the front, ha ha)making an "X".  This only works if you have stabilizing bars along the bottom horizontally.  Without the stabilizing bars, you will pull the bottoms of your legs towards each other.  I use my weights horizontally on the stabilizing bars.

  • You need stabilizer bars. Everyone should have stabilizer bars and lots of weight. As the name implies, the 3 stabilizer bars stabilize the tent.
