Like any other year I ask myself what I can do better? The list is very long and I keep going back to improve my English. There is one thing that gave me bad taste.
When is good time to ask for advice. Let start that you do not have a group art fair artists near to you. You can not ask your regular friends about your work and presentation because they wont be honest with you.
If ask an artist at the show even when they do not have anyone in the booth is just a bad idea. So when is a good time to ask another artist for help?
Let assume you been told go more that direction with your work. Talk about your images. Print bigger and put less in the wall. Your work looks to uniform (this one is odd to me), you should take image of what people can not do (this is impossible in photography). the list keeps growing.
What I know I take pictures that I can relate and be emotional about them. I still like know if I am going in the correct direction but still when is good time to ask another artist. Even more if you like my work how I can improve my sales. Please to do not tell me stay in your booth and dress with a tie.

p.s...my last name is Johnston, not Johnson but even everyday people spell it wrong so it is not your lack of perfect English. And, for that matter, my Spanish 'sucks' in a word. And, my landlord/friend who is from Mexico even after knowing her for NINE years still spells it Jonhston most of the time. Just so you know. I answer to about anything. :)
Ok so I heard a rumor from another artist, (no, not you Carla!) that you mentioned my name here!!! Oscar....let me just say that I am soooo happy for you about getting in Lakefront! Congrats. Yes, your 'organics' are gorgeous and you should show them proudly! Now, if I would have followed my own advice and maybe only submitted my trees or something maybe I would have gotten in too LOL! I think I am going to give up on that show but you are just beginning.....and, we had plenty of time to discuss your work at that show we did together......see you soon 'down the road' as they say!

I apply each year, this year I did it with the newer work now that feel more secure of it. I was so surprise bc I lost hope in applying to this show.
I will appreciate it Carla. I try something that Mary Johnson told me. I apply to Lakefront just with the organic as she call them, the plants. To my surprise today I got in. I can not believe it myself.

Kathleen I am not getting frustrated at all. The question is not about booth design. I am simply asking if you ask artist friends at the shows for advice about your work. So far the people answer at confirm my point view.
Last year I close my eyes and purchase the Trimline. With the upgrade it add to much time for the set up 3 to 4 hours. I conclude that was to much for me. Since I do the shows alone. I went back to drawing board I made some chances to make my life easier and hopefully it will bring more food to the table.
Besides I love doing shows.
