Yes, the Friends are you! We are heading out of Florida for the very first time this year, and would love any suggestions for shows in the Maryland/Virginia/Delaware/South Jersey area. We are staying in Southern Maryland (Solomons Island) and here is what we have booked (or appliied to) so far (please no horror stories on these shows - let us find out on our own with a positive attitude since we are already ccommitted)
June 1,2 - Blackbeard Festival - Hampton, VA
June 8,9 - Annapolis Arts and Crafts
June 15, 16 - SoMD Sun and Music Fest
July 13, 14 - Annapolis Irish Festival
July 20,21 - Chicoteague Blueberry Festival
We sell "Ear Pins", 8 styles, 80 colors, $16-75, 100 handcrafted and Sterling, GF
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Alan don't forget to check out www.Callsforartists.com. There you will see shows that are actively looking for artists as well. It is a very easy site to use.
Mark,
Alas, we have already commited to being back in Florida mid-August, but we will be applying to the HDG Seafood, sounds awesome and right on 95 for the trip home! Perhaps we will see you there!
Thanks, Mark, we are staying in our RV at the MWR at the Academy - is there something else available that I don't know about? We are really looking forward to this event as well as a few others. Just got the acceptance at Blackbeard and SOMD Sun and Music yesterday too!
Re: Annapolis... there has been plenty of fine art and fine craft there... I've done the show since it started.. They moved it into the grass off the asphalt after 120 degree afternoons in your tent.... Plan for potential thunderstorms with regards to your display weighting and tents.. Had a doozy there two years ago couple folks (newbies) lost their EZ-ups b/c they'd never been through a thunderstorm before
Can be dusty - true, but if dust is the worst thing that ever affected your merchandise, count yourself lucky... and remember that a lot of it came from patrons trooping through the show. And recognize you can get some fine wine at the show now that wine is a larger component
I have had a couple really nice sales there... If you staying in the camper, then your costs will be lower.. If you like steamed crabs, cross the bay bridge and check out the little crab place right off the first exit after the bridge in Stevensville
BTW, I got my hotel room there for 65/night using the Check-Inn card (plus their fee and taxes)
I would definitely avoid anything in Wildwood, NJ, a word to the wise, as I see it suggested above. I'm from that area, there won't be any art-lovers there.
I wrote a review of the Annapolis Arts and Crafts show after I did it last year. Even though it is at the stadium, you need to be aware that it is in the stadium parking lot and extremely dustry -- the dirtiest show I have done. It is a good size show, and well-organized. However, you also need to be aware that it is almost all crafts (lots of sewing) with a lot of buy/sell items. I did not find it to be a good show for me. You may feel differently about it.
http://www.belairfestival.com/app_and_info.htm (big 1 day inexpensive show)
http://www.hdgartshow.org/ (50th anniversary - inexpensive 3-day show)
http://www.hdgseafoodfestival.org/VendorInformation.htm (inexpensive & well-attended if last year was any indication)
http://oceancitymd.gov/recreation_and_parks/pdf/2013SunfestApplicat... (expensive $ 630.00 booth fee - but HUGE)
http://www.brandywinearts.com/ (September - just up the road 45 mins from Havre de Grace)
Howard Alan does the Inner Harbor show (Baltimore) and the Alexandria, Va show....
Lots more... consider using craftlister and eventlister.com to search for addl events
Mark
There are boardwalk shows in Wildwood, NJ between mem weekend and labor day that might be decent filler shows for you. I've never done them but I HAVE talked with them and they're nice folks. >>Link
This is another potential source of info for you: Festivals.com
Good luck!
Bill, just checked your profile. Our son just moved to Lusby in Jan, transferred from NAS Jax to NAS Pax. They lived in Green Cove Springs!
Festivals are fine for us, we do some of our best shows at Seafood Festivals, Celtic type festivals and Biker Events too!
