  • I tried the Kiwi Camp Dri, which we found at out local Ace hardware store.  The can does not specify how many square feet it covers, so I bought 2 cans (about $7.50 a can).  We found that one can covered the top of the canopy, one coat.  We used both cans (4 hours apart, as the can instructs) and gave our top two good coats.  I was at the People's Choice Festival of Penna. (first & last time for that show!) and we had heavy rain the night I set up and light rain during one of the days of the show.  For the most part it worked wonderfully.  I did not have any color change on the top and we were in both rain and blistering sun.  I would say this is a good product.  I imagine it will have to be recoated over time.  Thanks Stephen for the tip about the seams!

  • We also applied Camp Dri outdoors and in sunlight with the tent up because we also covered the sides.  The tent is in the garage right now drying out from one of nature's tearful outbreaks.  Like I said earlier, this is our first year using anything, but so far there has been no noticable adverse affects.  I'm calling it beginner's luck, because we have never heard of or from anyone else using a similar product.

  • I used Silicone Water Guard by Atsko and it turned the canopy yellow within a couple of hours.  Unfortunately I was borrowing it from a friend after my tent crashed in a storm.  So now I have to replace her canopy as well as my tent.

I laid it out on my driveway and sprayed in the middle of the day, and was thinking later that maybe the sunshine did it, although the directions said nothing about that.  Also, some areas went yellow and others didn't; maybe the amount of saturation makes a difference?

Geez, I hope my friend isn't reading this.  I haven't broken the news to her yet.  Gulp.

  • Michael,

So far we have noticed no discoloration, and we have been set up in rain and shine.  However, we've only been using the Camp Dri this spring so I cannot answer to long term effects.

  • Diane,

We used Kiwi Camp Dri that we found at a Dicks Sporting Goods store.  We have been using an Easy Up for the last two years, so this is not new equipment, but so far the Camp Dri has served us well. It comes in spray cans for easy use. We applied a couple of extra coats on all seams, which is where water can penetrate the easiest.  The best time to apply any such product is on a dry, calm day.  A slight breeze is no problem, just don't inhale whatever you decide to use.

Good luck and much success to you.
