A good story about the show and its economic impact on the city:

Here is one of the nicest TV stories about an artist I've seen in a long time. A TV reporter who "gets it."
VIDEO: Great story about emerging artist program that just happens to feature Rachel Zolotov who won the "emerging artist award". You'll see why: http://www.ksdk.com/story/entertainment/television/show-me-st-louis/2014/09/05/st-louis-art-fair/15129841/

Congratulations to all the winners and "also rans"!
I was next to Robert Farrell at Winter Park. It was a laugh riot.
Thanks for that correction, Cindy. My apologies to Sue. Fixing it now.
I had a chance to have a lengthy conversation with Robert Farrell at Ann Arbor and did a short video with him, coming soon ... he had a wonderful story, truly devoted to his work and it shows in every detail. His presence uplifts any event. So many wonderful people in this business.
I'd love to see Jessica Stoddart's work. Haven't seen in in person since she was in college. How wonderful that she was in this show, a 2nd generation artist. Her brother, Jason, is also doing art fairs. Jack and Lynne "seeded" the art fairs with fine artists who are very savvy about the business. I'd guess at 30 they've been to 500 art fairs ;) mostly behind the booth.
Connie,
The David Glenn Award is Sue Mersman. You have her last name wrong.
Connie, before I forget, my next door neighbor at SLAF was Jessica Stoddard, Jacks daughter. She was really funny and we had a ball.
I literally just walked in the door from the SLAF and will do a full report as soon as I get some sleep.
The judges did a great job. They talked to every artist. My favorites were Richard and Carrin, Kimberly and Kevin, Julie Seymor, Robert Farrell, and my good friend Bill Lemke, who uses black and white film and prints on real paper. I know I got some consideration and would like to think that if Richard and Carrin weren't there, I might have had an award.
I had a great time and I hope I get to go back next year.
In general, these judges did a very fine job. Had to be hard to choose as all the work at this show is so excellent.
Right, Mary Jackson, a winner of a MacArthur Genus Award. Aaron's work is so very fine and interesting, definitely original. And, speaking of Woohoo's Barrie. I bought earrings from Michele Friedman at the AA Art Fair --
Aaron is having quite the career these days. And look there's Mary Jackson, speaking of quite the careers. And one of my faves, Nicario Jimenez. Not to mention Bill Kidd. WOOHOO!
