SHORT ARTICLE ABOUT NEW ARTIST

The Wall Street Journal Sunday (in Denver Post) has an article about an art/craft show jeweler starting her business at age 73. The Accidental Entrepreneur: Tackling a Business Later in Life, Sarah E. Needleman. It's an interesting brief read for new artists.

  • The article was about people, like myself, who have found that the idea and reality of retiring can be pretty far apart. I started selling my jewelry at local art festivals last year to see if I could make some extra money. (So far it has cost far more than it's made.) Starting this at age 61 is not easy - especially doing it by myself. I see the article as a commentary on what some of us older folks are doing to try to make ends meet in our current economic climate.  BTW-I'm new to this group and up until now, have just looked and read whatever I can.  Nice to meet all of you!

  • Cool article. It has some good insights on the possible road blocks in starting businesses. I hope she does well.

  • I read the Denver Post hard copy. I would imagine you could find article by searching author, Denver Post or WSJ. Computer is back with my guys. Windows8 was not created for business users IMO? Nothing but problems except for all the invitations to socialize.
  • Richard, can you provide a link to the story?
  • That is amazing.  I wonder how she is doing.  Did the article say if she had done any shows yet?
