  • Thanks for the thumbs up Connie! Bruce and I have been creating ceramic art together for over 37 years so a little recognition as one half of the 'team' is welcome, indeed!
  • Right, I knew that, Christine, but it was the only photo I had of you. Guess I should have cropped Michael Bryant out ;)

Lisa and I both know that you do way more than push the dolly, but thought you deserved recognition for your many, many years of pushing it up the hill and down again ;)

  • Connie, just so the award winners are represented properly, the above picture is from a few years ago with different awards although it is my same face. Lol (maybe a few years younger!)
  • Thanks Bill.  Nice work.

  • Forgot the link ... http://www.bowledconcepts.com/
  • Geri- Brian is a wood guy out of NC. Very nice bowls. He won an award at Seawall the week before.
  • Wow, defensive much?

And who is Brian Shope?  I googled him and couldn't find an artist by that name.  (just curious)

  • Many of you know I was part of this show's organization for 14 years, so I always get lots of feedback. Here's a report from my good friend Sandy Dunstone who is not an artist, but puts in many hours volunteering every year to work the show:

The winners deserved their wins. I purchased something from Brian Shope (NC). He did very well this weekend and is concerned that he may have enough stock to cover all 3 days of Arts and Apples. I heard good reports about sales from several people. Even Stan Baker closed out the show on a happy note. Some lady was in town from Brazil, for business meetings, and had only landed from the airport 2 hrs prior to showing up at his booth. He told me she spent almost $700. Lou ___ with the paper cuts will not be back. It just isn't the audience for him and he was disappointed.

Allan and "Little" Dave both said to send you hellos. An artist, who was new last year, was sooo happy with his sales. I recognized his report on the show...about $10K. He told me it was the 2nd best show he has ever had anywhere. Talked to a couple jewelers who were pleased with sales.

You will still read posts on your site that are negative about the drunk crowds who have no appreciation of fine art and the work behind it. There will be complaints from artists about the parking...to far away from the show. They were on Main St and Washington this year. I don't know what they expect in the middle of a city for free. Do they want to park way off site and be shuttled in? That would be worse.

They will complain about the beverage tents in the middle of Washington, the bad traffic in the cul de sac, the music being too loud...all the same things we have heard in the past. Oh, and the heavy rain we had Fri night right after closing.

During the night it was so heavy that 2 artists' tents collapsed from the weight and caused damage to their work. Donna [Beaubien], Lisa [Konikow], Heather and Ian [other staff members] were out there at 3 in the AM helping clean up. Allie [Maher] used a shop vac to get standing water out of some booths on Washongton. Their electrical boxes shorted out cuz they were sitting in the water. Aggreko [electricians] was out there early before the show changing out the gfi parts and all was up and running just shortly after 11 AM.

I heard lots of good comments was many artists. But you know they will post the negatives. As always, take it with the grain.
