Amdur Productions has been running the Gold Coast Art Fair in Chicago for quite a while now. Not to get 8869113884?profile=originalinto the politics and reasons for why it is no longer in the River North area of that city, but a few years ago it moved to Grant Park, on the lakefront, a popular destination for all kinds of festivals.

There is no doubt that there are lots of logistics to figure out in this location (security, traffic, city permits, insurance, health department, etc.), but the location is pretty terrific for attracting attention and if Amdur can get all of this to work well (not for the faint of heart) it has solid potential.

What a great way to get your show noticed in such a large city.

This year seems to have marked a turning point, as evidenced by word-of-mouth and the reviews at ArtShowReviews.com.

  • Oh no, my admin hasn't posted it yet. My apologies. I'll go over there now and see if I know how...

So sorry, I don't know how to do it. Hopefully they'll be there very soon. I can do the tech stuff on all my other sites, this one befuddles me.

  • Marc - I believe you were not far from me, I went to your website and recognized your work from the show. Beautiful pieces! And, I agree - still hoping to write a full review. I always enjoy Amdur shows but this one was a miss for me.

  • The marketing was amazing but the crowds and sales were terrible. It's a bad site and I don't think any amount of marketing will overcome that.

  • I couldn't find a review from this year either when I looked. Just the older ones.

  • Connie - I haven't been able to find the other review you mentioned that Carla did (I was curious!). Went to the link and looked up Gold Coast, and all the reviews seem to be from 2011 or earlier - maybe one 2012?

  • Geri, there is a review at www.ArtShowReviews.com, one of our other sites from Carla Banks.

Elizabeth, would love to have yours also. This is a big show with lots going on and I'm sure many different experiences.

  • Geri - I was there this year and have been meaning to post a review, but have been swamped. I also think my experience my have been different than other exhibitors' (possibly), so I was hoping someone else would start the process...you are reminding me that I should just jump in and write that review! I'll work on it and post it this weekend.

  • Where is the review from this year's show?
