  • Hi Ziggy, I am a midwesterner so don't know much about shows in the southwest. I did do Summerlin a few years ago because my daughter was living in LV.  I almost died dollying all my stuff in the 95 degree heat.  Looking forward to your reports on some of the shows out there.

  • Ziggy -other ideas:  Utah Arts Festival in June, Kimball Arts festival (UT) in August, Art in the Pearl in Portland OR in Sept, Mill Valley (CA) Fall Festival of the Arts in Sept., Sausalito (CA) in September, Cherry Creek (CO) in July, Breckenride in Aug, etc.  You might have missed some of the 2014 deadlines for some of these shows.  Connie recently did a survey for the 25 best shows, consider some of those that are within driving distance that you are comfortable with.

  • I am not a fine artist but being fine art try Scottsdale in march, thunderbird artist might be another way to go both are in. Az. Beverly Hills show in May. There is mark vranesh in Lv area. There are enough shows in sw. If you like driving go back east I think it a waste Also ck New Mexico. The other thought go to groups and ck outhouse southwest group they might have shows for you. I live in az no longer do cal cause of taxes. I think your best bet is az, for strangers.
  • Ziggy, I'm in Michigan and will probably start here or in the tri-state area  (mich, ohio, indiana). I knit and felt (boiled wool) women's hats and handbags and do quite well in the surrounding area but would like to branch out a bit.  I know you're a painter but what is your preferred medium and what do you paint?  Do you have photos on this site yet?  If you're interested, you can see my work on my home page.  Thanks for asking...

  • Nice to know I'm not the only freshman in the bunch. I was in a very high end gallery, and did fantastic dispite the economy. The gallery was in a very busy shopping area in Las Vegas. So there was a ton of international traffic. I'm not sure how the festival thing will work out in comparison. What kind of art do you sell? Where you thinking of starting out? I'm in the southwest. So I'm interested in az,nv and cal?
  • Hi and welcome to AFI, Ziggy!  I'm a newbie too, so don't have much advice to give but this is the place, someone will step up and help you out.  I'm thinking of testing the art fair waters myself, have only been in galleries and gift shops so far...most people on this site are pretty enthusiastic about it, although I get the impression that the changing economy has made it a bit more difficult.  Hopefully things are on the upswing though and we'll be able to get involved in the "gypsy life".  Good luck to you!
