lots of folks ..no buyers

I did a show in Sioux Falls "Holiday Art Show at the Washington Pavillion" last weekend. Lots of folkes came through. Verry few were buying anything. I had a hard time selling $2 clay turtles, much less any large works. The show was all quality, and included a well attended fine art reception with wine & cheese. There was another show in Watertown SD with the same problem..no buyers. I will be doing another show"winterfest" in aberdeen SD soon. That show will tell me if this is the trend. My wholesale is picking up as folks seem to want morelocal art in their shops.Dave Huebner

  • Hi Dave,
I'm an artist residing in Florida, my medium is 2D mixed media. You can see samples of my work and a description of the process at http://www.mabat-art.com/FunctArt/Functional.htm

Living in Florida does not expose me to many artists from the Dakotas, as a matter of fact I don't know any...

I participated last year in two shows in Kansas, the Mulvane Museum in Topeka and Smoky Hill River in Salina.
In the first I had very poor sales and in the second very good sales. I intend to apply again for the Salina show this year.

I wonder if you could give me some information about the shows in your state, specifically the shows Summer Arts Festival in Brookings, SD Fargo's Downtown Street Fair in Fargo, ND and Festival in the Park in Spearfish, SD.

If you can, please enter my website and give me your educated guess about the possibilities of selling my work in your area.

    Thank you

    Ynon Mabat
