I  am so excited because after a month of work I finally finished painting my Chicago White Sox frog sculpture. This sculpture will be at IN BLOOM garden art exhibit from May 19 to September at Oakbrook mall in Oakbrook IL. There will also be a Chicago Bulls, Blackhawks all these autographed by players. There would also be about 60 other different sculptures painted by amazing artists with different themes. Hope you can stop by and visit this beautiful exhibit. In September, all sculptures would be auctioned by HCS Family service to help people in need   http://hcsfamilyservices.org/inbloom2011/index.html  8871871694?profile=original

  • Thanks everybody! And Joey, I had to look for  Sox's fans to ask them about players, logos etc to have a better idea of what to paint but everybody told me they didn't like them and I should be painting the Cubs! The problem is that the Cubs didn't want to donate money for the sculpture, even knowing that it was for charity! So I have to give credit to the Sox this time!

  • Soooooo Dope Carla- wow! *Even though I hate the Sox*-ha! Big Ups to you!
  • This is very cool, Carla. I'll bet you enjoyed making it. Congrats.
  • A wonderful job!  I've done two of these type shows in the past both through The Swope Art Museum in Terre Haute, Indiana. It is such fun to work on the pieces - and for a two dimensional painter such as myself adding in the 3 dimensional aspect of the piece is a breath of excitement. I love your choice of color and the ball park as the platform is very well done!
  • Thank you Geri, Yes, such a fun exhibit and I love when kids and teens get exited about it and don't think art as "boring", hope you can see it! Here's another pic of the back of the frog :)  His name is "Firebelly Ozzie" So excited about it!

  • This is great.  Love the petals with the different sox logos and the lily pad as comiskey park.  Will have to stop by Oak Brook SC if I am down south.   I love how cities are doing this.  Each season Racine, WI has a different theme and it adds some whimsy to the downtown area as well as showcasing artists.  Pinecrest, Coconut Grove and Coral Gables in Florida have done them also and they look great.  The auction money goes for good causes too so it is a win-win-win-win situation (artist, city, charity, buyer)
