I just came back from Glynn Art in the Park.  This was my 4th year.  I look forward to doing this show every year.  The venue is beautiful.  Set up and take down is super easy.  The folks who run it are the type of people you would love to have as your neighbor.  The reception is first class.  The quality of the art is top notch.  No junk here.  I always come out in the black.  And to make matters even better --- I took 2nd place in 2D this year.  Yeah for me!  And thank you Glynn Art Association for another wonderful weekend.  The weather was good.  The she-crab soup from 4th of May restaurant was scrumptious.  The gumbo delicious.  Jim and I really enjoyed the friendship and dinner at Iguanas with friends Patsy and Ed.  I sold my first large piece on Friday during set-up.  Saturday was a little slow.  Seemed to be that way with most of the artists I talked to.  It did not help that there was a GA game that afternoon.  But sales on Sunday definitely made up for the slow Saturday.  In fact my profit line was twice what I took in 2012.  My last sale was after we were well into the take down phase.

  • So nice to hear good things about a relatively small show that sounds like it is accessible for some of our Eastern members AND to hear that 2D people are making sales.

  • Thank you all for your compliments on our show.  We are limited in size but do strive for quality and work to improve every year.  Our challenge being on the coast is that on nice weekends everyone heads to the ocean!  However, as a potential buyer, I am more likely to buy after quiet time looking and talking with the artist than struggling thru a crowd to buy.  Hope to see you all next year - and spread the word!

  • A couple things I forgot. We enjoyed the Friday night dinner and social with the artists and patrons. The volunteers from the Glynn Art association were very helpful. The load in and out was easy. The weather was beautiful. There is no overnight RV parking on St. Simons, however the popular campground at Jekyll was very nice, and very crowded. Make your reservations early. The campground is about a 35 minute drive from the festival location. The show is a keeper.

  • Great. I thought I remembered you were going to be there. We look forward to seeing you Friday. Praying for more good weather.

  • Hey John - We will see you in Bluffton.  Hopefully it will be a good weekend for all of us.

  • Great seeing the two of you again. We concur on your review of the show. Congratulations on your award. Sherry sold a painting Sunday and had more people pick up cards than any of our previous shows. We seem to be getting more "be-backs" with each show. Hopefully some of those will turn into future sales. Baby steps, but we will take that as progress. Sherry is in Bluffton painting. I had to move the camper from Jekyll to the Bluffton area, leave Sherry and Radar there, drive to Blue Ridge, GA to pick up some of Sherry's work from a plein air event, and then head back to Tennessee for work. I am heading back to Bluffton on Friday morning to set Sherry up for the Bluffton Arts and Seafood festival this weekend. We keep learning. I have attached two photos of our Glynn Art in the Park display.981296670?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024301656358?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

  • Thank you Margaret and Becky.

  • Congratulations!!
  • That sounds like a great show-congrats!

  • Good for you! Sounds like a lovely show. Deborah Wright from the committee called me a few weeks ago and was concerned that it wasn't full -- after this nice report I doubt they'll have the problem again.

    She-crab soup ... mmmm
