Fabulous weather app

This is neat futuristic weather routing app. Perfect for the driving that we do. You plug in your route. It shows the weather along it, as your're driving, in real driving time. It will suggest a re-route for you to avoid the bad weather. It will even tell you how long the rain will last along your route in front of you, ie..."the rain will last another 5 miles". Amazing. Before you leave home, you can tap the little arrow, and you'll see a little blue car driving along the highway, along with the radar overlay on top of it, at that exact predicted travel time. It will also show you exactly what time you will get to any point along your route. All this is based on NOAA data.If you have an iPad, go to the App Store, and search "turncast weather". You can read all about this program on the link shown below.http://techcrunch.com/2013/09/10/turncast/Maija

  • It's actually a brand new app that came out last week. The link I showed, describes it. If you have an iPad, go to your apps, and search turncast, it will pop up. The actual name of the app is "Radar Cast Elite" by WeatherSphere. Hope this helps. I don't know if there's an app for the android or not.
  • I couldn't find the app as well.  Sounds like a great app to access.

  • I couldn't find an app called turncast weather.

  • Very cool, Maija. Thanks for this info.

One of the panels at the arts festival conference in Louisville was about the weather, and it included someone from the National Weather Service. He said "radarscope" was the best app for weather. I wonder if he knew about the one you mention here. Another resource he mentioned was "weather call.net" which will let you know when there is lightning within 6 miles. Given that so many of the shows are in parks with big trees, seems we all need to know that too.
